I have had parakeets in the past and unfortunately lost one to egg binding and one to a philodendhron that I have now gotten rid of. I was nervous about getting a new bird but once I got to the pet store and met Oogie my GCC it was love at first sight!! The only way I can describe him is like a tiny puppy with feathers. He is into everything, chews on everything including my very tolerant cats. He has not started talking but I believe he may be trying. He does imitate a couple of whistles though. When it comes to bedtime he has also learned the command "back in your cage oogie" I sometimes have to tell him a couple of times if he really really doesn't want to go.;)

I Own a 3 month old GCC. His name is Ozzy. Ozzy is such a little explorer. He shares a room with 5 lovebirds and he loves to take a bath. Everytime he hears me come through the door he freaks out and wants out of his cage immediately. He's so funny. He is having a little bit of trouble saying his name but has no problem saying Ricky which i guess sounds close to him. He loves to play catch with our jack russel kato .. what a great bird.

I own a five-month-old green-cheeked conure named Mojo. He doesn't speak yet, but he does make some whistling noises. Being a budgie person until now, I can't decipher what his parrot noises mean like I can with my two budgies. He bathes in a small bowl almost every day. He likes to burrow underneath the paper lining the bottom of his cage and in his own scarf, and also likes walking through and under things. He's sweet and affectionate and wants his cheeks rubbed all the time. He likes to play with a ponytail holder--he becomes so absorbed with it that he'll lay on his back, waving it around with one foot, and sometimes does accidental somersaults. He generally ignores my budgies, but eats their food and plays with their toys. His wings are clipped and he likes to go outside on my shoulder and gaze wide-eyed at the hummingbirds and the hugeness of the world around him. He loves all kinds of food, especially fresh berries and fruit juice. Mojo's a great pet.

Animal-world your site was and still is very helpful, because I am thinking about gettting a Green cheeked conure and the information your site provided was very helpful, especially since I knew absolutely nothing about conures! But now I do! Thank you!

I have a 5 year old GCC called Ringo. He is an absolute darling, although he does have his moody moments and is prone to temper tantrums when he can't get his own way. I stay in an apartment so his wings are clipped (for his own safety)- but that doesn't seem to bother him as he thinks he should be carried every where anyway ! He does try to talk and mimics whistles perfectly. He happily keeps himself amused for hours (even when I'm at home) but enjoys a good playtime together. After not being much of a "bird person" I am really so glad I decided to share my home with Ringo - it would be a dull day without him ! Even my husband is attached to him and they have a special cuddle time before Ringo goes to bed !

I HAVE HAD MY ROCKY ROAD FOR 6 MONTHS NOW. HE JUST TURNED 1 YEAR. I USE TO BE AFRAID OF BIRDS, BUT ROCKY I KNEW WHEN I SAW HIM AND HE LOOKED AT ME AND STARTED DANCING AND THAT WAS IT. I HAVE NEVER HAD A RELATIONSHIP LIKE THIS WITH ANY ANIMAL, BUT WOULDN'T TRADE THE SMILES HE PUTS ON MY FACE FOR MILLIONS OF DOLLARS. I NOW HAVE AQUIRED ANOTHER BIRD A SENEGAL PARROT NAMED MS. JACKIE, AND ALTHOUGH SHE TOO IS SPECIAL AND WE HAVE OUR OWN KIND OF RELATIONSHIP, ROCKY IS AND KNOWS THAT HE IS #1, NOW AND ALWAYS. I ALWAYS SAY THAT HE BLESSES ME WITH HIS LOVE AND FRIENDSHIP. HE LOVES TO DANCE ALL THE TIME AND SING, AND HE IS VERY GOOD AT BOTH. WE ARE A DANCING AND SINGING DUO,AND NOW MS.JACKIE WILL MAKE IT A TRIO.

I have a one year old Peach-fronted Conure called Picasso and a two year old Green-cheeked Conure called Kosie. They are purely wonderful birds. Very intelligent companions who likes to nibble on everything, including my shoes. Picasso does not speak yet but the signs are there. Kosie speaks rather well and he often calls my daughter Nadiya ( who spends a lot of time with them) by her name. He flies around the house as he wish. When i enter the house he flies onto my shoulder and allow me to cuddle him. My daughter calls him from her bedroom and he responds. He likes to hide under her clothing and often pops his head out to see what
