Tiki (tea-key) is my beautiful one year old green cheeked conure, who is a lively yet calm little girl. She loves fruit such as grapes, oranges and apples, and her all time favorite snack is sunflower seeds. Tiki loves having baths and playing in the water, she immitates the sound of water as well. Tiki loves to be on my shoulders and at night time she snuggles in my neck under my hair. Her vocabulary is increasing each month, and she says and immitates the words and sounds that I say to her. She is a smart girl. Tiki is good in my jeep when we travel, and she has her own traveling cage. Her favorite toys are her hanging bell and her ball with a bell in it. Someone mentioned about the life span. I have read anywhere from 10-35 years. I hope Tiki is with me forever! She is my little side kick.

I have a peach fronted conure named Fred. He was a pet shop bird that was extremely unhappy. A product of a divorce and a remarriage. the previous owner was given an ultimatum of "The bird goes or I go" Personally that woman would have been listed in the "free to good home" section of the paper the next day. Anyway Fred bit everyone that approached him. I was in the petshop and saw him, asked him if he wanted to come out and he promptly lifted his foot to come on my hand. I walked around the petshop with him, I was able to pet him, and snuggle him. The people that worked there was amazed. I visited him for several months at the store, thinking surely someone would buy this bird, but after two months the bird was still there, and starting to refuse to eat. Subsequently he became my mothers day present 3 yrs. ago from my husband. He is a wonderful little bird, very social, and now loves to be handled by everyone, of course I am still his favorite.:0) He can be loud, but when he goes banannas I just cover his cage for a little while and he quiets immediately. If it is a small parrot that interests you, the peach front conure is a mighty little parrot in small body. They are clowns, and love attention. They love a "happy hut" in their cage for night time sleeping. He always sleeps in his hut. Toys: They prefer the smaller toys, and are extremely messy with their drinking water. They dunk everything and water needs to be changed several times a day. I do not use a water bottle, but do have two seperate containers for water. One for dunking, one for drinking and he does use them that way. Be sure to change the dunking water often. They love to be misted several times a week with a spray bottle. The only drawback to these darling little birds is their voice when they scream. They are very loud, and extremely annoying. Many times I just take him out of the cage and hold him for a few minutes and that stops it. They are extremely interactive with people, and love the "people time" that they get out of the cage and with you. They live about 20 yrs. so be prepared for a long relationship. I would recommend them to anyone that is looking for a small parrot.

My adult hen Mitred is very friendly but also very cage aggressive. I use a stick (she hops right on) to remove her from her cage and we are both very happy. She steps up immediately once OUT of the cage. She is a sweet funny pet and a great size! These birds should be much more popular!

I have a very friendly sun conure his name is Connunbutses. It is a funny name but I like it very much. He is very tame, he will lie upside down and play dead in my hand, he says "ouch" and mutters all sorts of other noises. I have quite a few birds but he is my overall favourite bird.

My husband and I have a 7 month old Dusky named Emma, short for Emerald Jade. She has been such a delight to our family. She is so loving and comical. If I am under a blanket, she loves to lay on my chest under it cuddling. She has started to say a few phrases already. I thank God everyday that we bought her.

My Girlfirend works at a High School, and she and a couple of co-workers found this cute bird. Well low and behold it is a younge nanday conure. Everyone decided that she should take the bird home since we have a Double yellow headed amazon named Apollo, and a senigal parrot named Kiji. Well, our newest addition is very social, and loves to visit and be near people. I am not a bird fan, due to being attacked when I was a child. Well let me just say, I now have a conure typing on the keyboard with me. I am very nervous of it taking a chunk out of me, but I am dealing with that. I have named it JesterBird.. this way gender could never be an issue.

I recently recieved a Nanday Conure from a friend who had the bird left at her home by a person who never came to claim it. The bird was in bad shape and was very unhappy. I put him in a larger cage and returned him to a proper diet, and he is a wonderful bird all his feathers grew back and he gets along great with my African grey. They are a little loud at times, but make up for it with love.
