I just hand fed my first cherry heads. The female was the most lovable, quick to learn tricks and talked at 8 weeks old.

I don't have a conure yet, but I plan to get one. thank you sooo much for this site! it's really helped me in preparing myself for this bird type. I've learned a lot about them. I've wanted a blue-crowned conure since I was very little, and after seeing the movie "Paulie" I wanted one even more! Everyone I've talked to says they are very loving and lovely extrodinary birds. So thank you for all the info about these beautiful birds.

Fifteen years ago I went into a pet store to get out of the rain and while I was wandering around close to the bird cages, a nanday conure stepped onto my shoulder. She has been my baby ever since. I didn't know if she was a boy or girl so after ten years I decided to have her sexed. The DNA test was sent off and a week before we got the results she laid a single egg...only one she has ever laid. Go figure. Once, on a trip to the vet, the bottom fell out of her cage and she escaped. I was hysterical but after 5 hours of looking I heard her "screech". I called her name (Nandie) and every time I did she screeched again leading me to her. Another time my cat somehow escaped from the bedroom where I always keep her when Nandie is out. She caught Nandie after a frantic chase. After a trip to the ER vet clinic and 10 days of intense antibiotics, she was no worse for wear. She says "hello", "want some water", "bye bye" and "you're my baby". I don't know how long Nandays live but I hope it's a LONG time.

I have had my Sun Conure for only a couple of weeks and wish I knew earlier what fun-loving, gorgeous birds they are, as then I would have gotten one years ago already. I've named mine Sunny and he is such a joy to have around, always busy and always wanting attention. He gets apple, celery, banana and either naartjie or orange in the morning. he has his seed and nut mixture throughout the day and then has mixed vegetables (carrot, mealie, peas and beans) just before bed time. He is starting to say "Hello" but the cutest is when I talk to him and he chuckles. I am really enjoying him very much, and would recommend a Sun Conure anyday.

Jenday Conures are awsome birds! I own two: Spanky and Boo-boo. They are very beautiful, affectionate, and smart. They love to be cuddled. They are great with my 6 year old daughter Paige. Anyone who wants a great bird and a good friend should buy a Jenday Conure.

Our bird's name is Sunny. She is so mischevious she'll bite you and laugh and she'll say "how funny!". she talks a lot. I taught her to say the same word in Spanish. what is funny is that, when she is being bothered she'll say "what do you want!" or she'll say it in Spanish too, "que quieres". She sings so funny and she prefers to sing Spanish songs. the English ones she'll just go "turu, turu, la,la,la and dences". she loves taking showers with us and she really trys to get under the water like us, but it's kind of strong! She loves to see the birds out side, she loves the cardinals. she gets crazy and will call them "birdy, birdy", and will say to them "hi! how beautiful". she is crazy and we let her fly around the house.

Hi, my name is Sandy and I have two sun conures. I bought " Daddy's Girl" first and we fell inlove with her. She seemed lonely so we bought a male to keep her company, (we haven't named him yet). They are the most precious additions to our family. She was three years old when we got her and she can say all kinds of words. At night when we cover them up for bed she will tell my husband "give me a kiss" and after you give her a kiss she says "love you". I am so glad we chose sun conures as an addition to our family. They are playful and very easy to train. Daddy's Girl also loves to hang upside down on my finger and she will say shes a "pretty girl" while doing her trick. Thanks to them, we can share all the love our little family has with one of the sweetest kinds of animals on the planet. Also we own 4 cats and she calls them " bad kitties" when she thinks they get more attention than her. If you own a sun, love them and spend lots of time with them.......the rewards are great.

Hi. I bought Tweety In 1982. He was only a baby. His Favorite was to say "Right Now "and "Give the Razzeberryies". This morning I found Him dead in his cage. Yesterday he was a happy little bird and now he is gone. I wished I new he was going to leave me because I feel I needed that special moment with him. I have spent 23 years with him.
I know I took very good care of him but I got no warning of him. I am so heart broken

I Own a 3 month old GCC. His name is Ozzy. Ozzy is such a little explorer. He shares a room with 5 lovebirds and he loves to take a bath. Everytime he hears me come through the door he freaks out and wants out of his cage immediately. He's so funny. He is having a little bit of trouble saying his name but has no problem saying Ricky which i guess sounds close to him. He loves to play catch with our jack russel kato .. what a great bird.
