I have a Nandayus Nenday that I got for my birthday. He was given to my parents from these people in my town that moved. We believe he has had two owners before us. His name is George and he is very loud. I just read this page and I am going to try to be kinder to him. He bites everyone and so I have decided I don't care and I am going to let him bite me to see if he will stop.

I have just bought a jenday conure about a week ago, and i absolutely love him. He will be a year old on march 3rd and i am so happy that i decided to get him instead of one of the other birds i was looking at. once i held him at the pet store i just knew i had to have him. he cuddles next to me he'll even lay down next to me around bed time. he always loves to be held and just to have attention. i have been so much happier since i have gotten my bird.

I was given a GC Conure by a third party. He had been ignored in a dark room for years. At first he was vicous and very nervous. Sudden moves or noise freaked him out

I had a white eyed conure named Sebastian. He was very aggressive and territorial with everyone but me. He only goes with me. I will always love him and remember him as the caring fun loving son i had.

I own one 4 month old Jenday Conure. I just found out Friday from DNA results that my Jenday is a Girl. I have named her Emerald. I have discovered that Jendays are very cuddly and very friendly. I have never met a bird that was so lovable. Emerald is very friendly to anyone that comes to visit me. She is always so anxious to meet new people. These are beautiful birds. Emerald also loves to have her picture taken.

I love my 8 year old green cheeck, Icarus, but he is not fun all the time. He is loud a lot of the time when I am leaving him to go to work or just leaving the room. I have him out playing with me a couple hours a day, but he still is very needy, and wants to be out all the time when I am home. He bites me pretty hard sometimes, particularly as a displacement when someone else comes into the room. He hates everyone except for me, regardless of many years of trying to incorporate other people such as my wife. He is loud every morning at 6-7am. I am not trying to complain, I love my bird and would not replace him with for anything, but realistically, he is a huge commitment, and I would not suggest to anyone without the time/energy to get one. I can't believe some of the things I have read such as kids bringing them into a classroom and having all the other kids handle the bird. Mine would make them bleed. And it is not just an owner thing, I am a researcher and will read up and try to do anything for my pets. I do think people should get this bird, but know the bad as well as the good.

I currently own a Jenday Conure and I named it "Cuddles". These are the sweetest parrots ever. I already owned a Quaker Parrot and he was so possessive of me not even my husband could get near me. Cuddles will let anyone hold him/her. I'm currently waiting for the DNA sexing results. According to this site, "Cuddles" should be a male by the Pure White Ring around the eyes.

If you want a sweet, loving, affectionate parrot,Jenday Conures are for you.

An important perspective on noise level: Patagonian conures are notorious for their high volume. I say high volume vs. loud because although their call is loud and possibly wall-piercing, they do not make it incessantly like my Quaker does, making my Quaker's constant noise MUCH louder than my Patty's occasional noise. Loud is a relative term, and the way species are labled is often misleading. That being said, they make excellent pets for those who do not live in apartments and have at least a couple hours to devote to them. They are the sweetest, cuddliest animals, and are great talkers and have quite the sense of humor. They are a good mix of affection and independence and retain the ability to entertain themselves on their own, making them higher-reward lower-demand than Cockatoos. Patagonians are excellent pet but with an over-inflated reputation for being "loud".
