We adopted Luna, our Half Moon, with best-friend Buster, a Green Cheek conure.

Luna is sweet and has a lot of personality. If I had to recommend a bird choice, I would recommend a Half Moon over a Green Cheek, although the Green Cheek's "Napolean-like" personality and playfulness has its puppylike charms. But since some new owners who haven't been "bird people" don't have patience with getting nipped if the treat isn't coming fast enough, a Green Cheek might not be the best choice for them.

Luna is more patient, less nippy, but more fiercely resistent to going to bed at night. She likes to sing and eat carrots, apples, spaghetti, steak and pink lemonade.

She is as talkative as Buster, but says "hello" and "pretty, pretty bird." She is friendly with our cockatiels as well.

Jack the Nanday came from an Animal Shelter; he was lucky to have found a rescuer, as on his last leg he was!

He was a biteybutt for quite a while, but persisting with gentleness, treats, love - he finally relented when he just HAD to get a head&neck scratch! Now he's a cuddlebug - oh, he'll make like he's going to bite, but just gentle pressure, like a dog who mouths the hand to show affection.

Jack's interaction with others has probably been quite limited; he's learning some new things now. Latest is throwing soda cans off of the top of his cage. Heh. I laugh at how he watches them fall and bounce. Then we both laugh together!

I love Jackey Jack! - did from the first moment. He might learn to speak clearly (he mumbles quite a bit) - I don't care though; he's my sweetie!

Thank you for your beautiful site with so many different conures. For years I have been wondering what type of conure I bought years ago. When I bought "Harvey" the pet store people really had no idea what it was- they told me "she"(I never had her sexed so she might have been a he ) was a maroon bellied or a green cheek.I had Harvey for about 4 years and I have never had so much fun with a bird in my life. Her favorite thing to do was to fly from her cage first thing in the morning and land on my dad's head (he was bald so the landings left a little to be desired lol) then climb down to his shoulder and clean his ears. After she had done that she would watch my dad's hand, waiting for him to raise his coffee mug to get a sip of coffee. Imagine his surprise the first time he got a mouthful of Harvey's feathered head instead of coffee. She was also known to unlock her cage and chase any cats that got to close- I think she was a hawk in a past life! Thank you again.

My Nanday Conure, Baby, is my first bird and what a learning experience! I scratch her head, neck and under her wings and she cuddles my face, gives me kisses and has learned a few difficult words. "Beautiful Baby", "My Baby" and "Hey Gorgeous" aren't very clear to anyone but me, but "Big Bird", "Dance" and "Peek-a-boo" are as clear as a child. She hides and when I say "Where's Baby?" she pops out and says "Peek-a-boo!", her favorite word for fun. She loves to dance with varying styles and favors rock and jazz. It took a little learning to see that only the gentlest and loving behavior got the results I wanted from her. She is so sweet and wants so much to please. She needs so much attention though! I had her out all the time when I got her, spoiled her and now she screams if I leave her side. Twice she managed to fly away outside, once despite clipped wings and it took me overnight to get her back, but her loud cry made her findable and it was nice to know she wanted to come to me and kept screaming for me until I got her. I don't let her near an open door or window any more. She lights up my life and I love her immensely!

Hi my sunny is 2 months old and i have him for a week. His name is Sam and he is so adorable. When i come from work in the evening, as i walk through the door i will say " Hallo Sam, where is moms baby" and he will make a screaching loud noise. I think he knows who i am. When he is on my shoulder nobody can take him from because he bites them. When he is in his cage then only can you take him. I love him to bits and when i am at work a miss him big time. I even have him on my PC as a background image, not even did have my boyfriend on my PC. Suns are the most loveble, adorable, cant get enough of birds.

I have a sun conure of my own. Her name is Skittles. Although she has a habit of screaming alot, she is a great bird. She has a unique and fun personality, and she is always doing new, funny things that keep me laughing. Skittles gets along great with my green cheek conure, Cheeky, but happens to be rather jealous of my Jenday Conure, TikTik. But all in all, sun conures make great pets, though their characteristic screaming cane be a little annoying.

I have a Nandayus Nenday that I got for my birthday. He was given to my parents from these people in my town that moved. We believe he has had two owners before us. His name is George and he is very loud. I just read this page and I am going to try to be kinder to him. He bites everyone and so I have decided I don't care and I am going to let him bite me to see if he will stop.
