I just recently purchased my Dusky Conure...Connie short for Conrad.
I love him to bits. He is such a joy, and makes my day brighter and more enjoyable. He is only 2 months old, but already has an outstanding personality. He loves to play and sing along with me. Connie loves to eat and play with puzzle toys. No words yet but he has started mimicing kissing sounds and Beeps. I can't imagine not having Connie now. I hope to have him forever :D

we have a 6month old white eyed conure named "curly" and he is very sweet. He loves everyone in the family but likes especially to be with his "mom" and "dad". He loves to take baths, loves to take rides on our shoulder and basically loves life.

I have a peach fronted Conure, what a wonderful bird. We did a lot of research, but honestly, only because my bird choose me. I never thought of owning a bird. I often considered falconry, but never a small parrot. Take your time and research, research, research. You will have a great pet and friend for a long time if you care for your bird. DO NOT do impulse shopping because it is cute. Too often I have seen people selling their conures.
For those of you doing your research, whilst she can squawk as all conures do, it really is not as loud as a Sun Conure. She is only 6 months old and the vet said she would get even more beautiful and brilliant. I can't imagine her any prettier.
We had her sexed with the toe nail blood test. Your breeder or pet store should inform you to only use a vet that is Avian certified.
As with all pets, don't force them. Take your time. My bird has a wonderful vocabulary. She can give kisses and sounds like a 'smooch' box. She says 'Take a bath?' at our shower time, 'I love you', and Pretty Bird to name a few.

I have a patty named Ozzy. I have had her for about 6 yrs now and we are so attached to each other. She does get very noisy with what I call her singing. I was told she was a male when i got her but 2 yrs ago he laid eggs HAHA! She is outside her cage full time. She sleeps in her blankie. She burrows under it. it is the cutest thing. She prefers to walk instead of fly and follows me everywhere I go. She is also a "closet" talker. But she does like to laugh whenever she hears me laughing. she sounds so evil lol. She loves taking baths and splashing water everywhere. Most of the time she goes in the shower with me and plays in the water. She's not so friendly with the rest of my family but she tolerates them. She has never once bitten me. And she knows better than to bite my kids. A very intelligent bird, and she can follow commands and i swear she understands me when i am talking to her or lecturing her about something lol. Ozzy has been loose flying outside. She will ignore me calling her for a little bit but she always comes back and lands on me. I don't recommend doing that unless your patty is extremely attached to you. But she loves it soaring and screaming :)

I had purchased a half moon conure a month ago. He was 4 months old. He was slow at weening, so I wasn't able to bring him home until just yesterday. I took him to the vet for a check-up, as required by the store's health guarantee.

Bloodwork was part of the routine check-up. He was taken to a back room. When he came out he didn't look right. He was very wobbly. The vet took him in the back again. When he came out he seemed better. 3 hours later he died in my hand at home.

I have been searching for answers and I think the same thing happened that happened to Alvaro Gonzalez in his post on 7/10/07.

Everybody please be aware of this. We found out the hard way.

This is terrible. I wonder what the vet did. I am now afraid to take
    my conure to the vet.

Summer and our third year with Coo, and learning about Hormonal Rage. I got my nose well attacked today. A new cage in the living room and Coo is getting territorial about it. I uncovered the cage and let him out early this morning, MISTAKE. Should stick with a late morning schedule and keep the cage covered 12 hours until the end of July when the hormones slow down and the biting stops. Cuddly bird but always gets mean in the summer! Love my Nanday, hate mating season.

I love my Patti. We have been through thick and thin for the last 19 years! She has traveled all places with me, including camping. And I say she, after 19 years she laid an egg tonight!

I was brought up with parakeets, but two weeks ago I bought my first half-moon conure. He was about 12 weeks old and was hand fed as a baby. It was love at first sight. He let me hold him and play with him in pet shop for almost an hour before we took him home. 'Banjo' loves attention and would rather be with people more than on his play area. He already is letting me scratch his head and will lay on his back for a tummy scratch. He lets me pick him up and will come up near the side of my face to cuddle. First thing in the morning and when I return home after work, he makes all sorts of noise to get my attetion so I will talk to and play with him. Can't wait to see what he does after some real training!

My name is Emily and I just got my Green Cheek Conure 6 days ago. I don't know her gender so I guessed shes a girl. I named her Kiwi because of her green feathers. She is a great pet to have, I've had two budgies before when I was little and I have already noticed how much more work having a Green Cheek is. Kiwi is very playful and she loves to cuddle. If I let her out of her cage and I sit down to do homework she flies right on top of my head. I love her a lot, but she does bite sometimes. I don't really know how to prevent this, but so far I have just ignored it. I have also noticed that Kiwi enjoys listening to other birds out the window, today she was sitting with me on my bed and she sat on the window sill and chirped back at the birds. I love Kiwi a lot, for all of you who are considering getting a Green Cheek, I definitely recommend one.

My wife and I purchased a Dusky conure last year. We called him (Drusky). He was such a lover. He shared a cage with our Sun Conure (Ducky). They fell in love right away. He would crawl down from his cage and come right to us, and as soon as we put him back,h e would crawl down again. He fell ill early this year of liver disease. We did everything to save him, but GOD called him home. He was a real joy in our lives. We recently purchased a Red Sholuder Macaw to help out Ducky. She was grieving and our new Macaw (Odie) has helped her and us. I would recommend getting a Dusky Conure. They are real lovers.
