Hello everyone, i have a beautiful Bavarian Queen. Its a year old. Has all the papers. It came from a very good exotic bird place in FL. Very healthy. The bird is lovely! Very sweet and gorgeous. Very docile with everyone. Unfortunately, i am unable to keep the bird anymore. I am looking for a nice home for him. I have beautiful pictures of him. If interested, please reply to this comment. I have two yellow crowned parrots. They had a clutch of three eggs And My question is do I lettThe parrots feed their young or should I hand feed them? Also if so should I change their diet to a better quality food or are the pellets and mix good enough? She's a very good mother as far as staying on the eggs all day so seems to be successful. Please help with any information please and thank you.

I would first let the parents feed them. If it appears that they are not feeding them or caring for them, then there might be indication for you to step in. Otherwise you can let the parents do it. However, if you want to hand feed, make sure you know the correct techniques, as handfeeding can be difficult!

Hello! I just purchased a 5 yr old breeding pair of Half Moon Conures a couple of months ago from another breeder who was getting out of the bird business. They settled into their new environment very quickly. They have been mating like crazy and now she has been laying eggs for the past week. She has laid 3 eggs so far and I don't think she is finished yet. In the past she has laid up to 5 eggs and they have usually had 4 babies in a clutch. The previous owner said that they are very good parents. I will be pulling the babies after two weeks to continue hand feeding them. I will be selling the babies for $300.00 If you are interested, you can respond to this ad. I live in Montana and I will ship if necessary. All shipping expenses will be up to you. I can't know whether the chest is bare cuz she is pulling her feathers or she is real young. If young then just wait till feathers grow in. If she is 3 - 4 monhs old (at least) she should be fully feathered. Conures need a lot of toys and attention and distraction. They love being with their human 24/7 and think we are one big toy made for them to play with. If they aren't with us they need toys - lots. TV is good and yes they do pay attention. Cartoons and music work best. I love (it will sound funny) but cash register paper rolls and they just scrunch up the paper or pull it and shred it. However, they are shreddding the paper in peices and not their feathers. They sell toys that hold cash register paper for birds but cheaper to buy the rolls at staples and put it in the cage with a piece of chain. I would also bathe her/him with aloe bird spray. Possibly dry skin/feathers. So conures are velcro birds and want to be with their human. They need lots of toys and distraction to keep them entertined as sooo smart. Aloe bird bath in case dry. Enjoy and have fun.

I also have a nanday and many other exotic birds if I were you I would go to a near by avian vet because there is a possibility that he has Thyroid problem which can possibly be helped with medicine but sometimes not this means parts of his feathers are falling out and normally it's just something you and him have to deal with I would definitely try finding by vet to diagnose the problem it also could be stress plucking which happens normally when the bird is in a new environment thanks hope you can use my advice best wishes your and your bird are in my prayers bye :)

I think the best way is gently pick her up with a thick towel and if you want to fix this problem she needs you to do that Quite frequently to get her socialized and use to you

Hi. I've had my conure for 1 year. He was approximately 2 years old when I purchased him. About a week ago I noticed few downy grey feathers on her chest..... 1 week later her whole chest is grey and little on her wings, any ideas thanks?

It could be the final adult coloring coming in as they do attain full color at about 2 years. You could check with the breeder to see what their hatchlings look like at full development. Most of this species are very similar overall, but some may have more gray/green on the chest than others. There is a slight chance of a hybridization, as they have been known to be crossed with Nanday Conures, though that's pretty unlikely.

I have a Jenday Conure who is 5 years old he used to be really loving, I`ve had him for 3 years but for some reason he has turned mean. he won`t even come on my finger anymore. I do work all day, but I`m home in the evenings and we spend time together, I try, My Mom died recently and she was always home, but she never played with him but someone was always there and their was noise in the house, do you think he lonely that`s why he acting this way.

Birds are very social, so it could very well be that he is lonely. Even though your mom didn't handle him, having a constant companion would have been a big thing in his life. With her gone, it sounds like he may now be very isolated for hours at a time and that could be causing mood changes and depression.

My 8 month old is starting to pluck chest feathers!! We don't know why??? All the love, toys, delicious food, attention, won't stop this behavior. Any suggestions?? He seems healthy and eats well, plays actively, etc.

A couple of reasons (if not health) came to mind for one of my Parent reared started to pluck badly or so I thought till.... her head on top became bald too.. I ordered PROBAC at Seigles Pigeon supply and gave her according to instructioons. She wasn't plucking she was molting, all the greenish color etc.. I continued to follow the instructions on the PROBAC for this is their stressful time. She is gorgeous today. She was about your Goldens' age when this happened. I really was very upset to think I did anyathing to cause her to do this to herself.. with her beauty today, now I know she was molting.

We have a pair of gold cap conures that have laid one egg this week. Last year the proven sexed female (the other we think is male) laid three eggs but they broke. Now while she is nesting on this egg she frequently chirps for long periods of time. Is this normal? Is this a sign she is sick? Should I be worried?
