I do have a 5 year old sun conure. She has laid eggs for the last 3 years. She doesn't have a partner. She is the only pet l have. 2 weeks ago she finished laying the eggs of this year and usually l leave it and she keeps sitting on for about a week or two and she's got no problems. This time was different, l woke up around 2 am with her banging on the cage. When l saw her in blood, because she was plucking her chest feathers. So far she was plucking her skin too, she was in blood and her eggs too. She got very weak. I was so scared to lose her. I don't know. Is it related with her eggs?  They are not fertilized and every year I just take them away and she gets frustrated? I went to the vet and they told me can be stress or sexual frustration because she lays eggs and nothing happens. What do you suggest me to do? Now she is fine but l don't want this to happen ever again.

Sounds like she did get frustrated, and unfortunately there is no guarantee it won't happen again. Not sure what to tell you, there are substitute eggs you can put in the nest, but that doesn't seem to be the problem. Usually birds go through a kind of 'teenage' behavior thing with sexual maturity, and it passes over time, so maybe as she is maturing she will mellow out. Wishing you two the best...

Not eating is a concern. The poop should have some white, but there should also be some solid green or brownish matter as well as clear fluid. If your bird is a new pet she could be adjusting, but talk to the previous owner to find out what they were feeding her, as offering the same food initially can help her adjust. If she is established then there is a good chance something is wrong. Either way, I suggest you take her to a veterinarian for a check up right away.

I've been reading about peach-fronted conures for a few days now and would love to have one. I am just a kid but I'm going to try and save up my money to try and get one. You might be thinking that I'm probably going to change my mind in a few days, but I'm not. Those conures are very hard to resist. I was at Petco yesterday and there are usually just parakeets but this time there was actually a peach-fronted conure. It was so beautiful. I looked at the price and it was 300 dollars. I think that I will be saving for a while for that bird. Anyway it was so cute and I got to feed it. I think this would be a good pet for anyone my age.

I am glad you have made a plan about your future peach fronted conure. That bird will be happy to have such a thoughtful owner.

Try to buy your birds at pet stores that socialize them and not keep them in cages.

I have a green cheek conure whose name is Jem. I bought him at the end of last year and he has shared a cage with a 6 year old budgie since the day I got him. They get along quite well, they sleep so close together at night that they touch and sometimes they groom each other. But the weird thing is that the budgie regurgitates in Jem's mouth! I read that budgies do it to their mates, and they are both boys, what's going on? hahahah it's not a problem I'm just curious.

Pepino loves to be touched! He is a 1 yr old halfmoon conure, demands to be constantly attended to. Can sit on a shoulder all day long, grooms and lets you kiss, and caress his feathers, wings head and under beak. He's a lovely guy (don't know sex so just guessing), loves my husband. And loves to sleep on our chest or in his fur house. Does not say much just 'Pepino' and kissy sounds.

I got a wild caught PFC in '85 when I got out of the navy and started college, It took two years to 'finger train' her, but well worth gaining her trust! playfull, affectionate, smarter than I expected. A true companion, whose 'noise' was welcoming living alone, she literally took away the loneliness in my academic quest. She was with me until thanksgiving 1999, when I had to have her put down at UC Davis Vet. because she was so sick and weak from liver cancer and there was no treatment, it had gone to far. Even in the end she was a 'good bird'. I let the University do the necropsy so that something could be learned (both for myself and help avian medicine) turned out she had Avian Papiloma Virus that created the sores through her liver/GI track that turned cancerous and that being wild caught back then, she could of had it from parents of quarantine process, impossible to say.... I still miss her.

My father got a Peach Front in 1996. Its name is Chico. Upon my dads passing in 1998 in inherited Chico. Chico seems to find attachments with males. Chico is a wonderful member of the family. He is a great mimic. He has an amazing laugh and it seems like he always knows the right time to do it. Last year in 2013 when added a Yellow Crowned Amazon and. The get along well. Chico and be loud at times but it usually means he needs or wants something.

Hi I have a jenday conure that is about 4 months old and we have had her for a week. My stepdaughter let her out of the house today and I have no idea how to find her. We set her cage outside where she can see it but I haven't seen her in the last 5 hours and I'm really worried. Will she come home or have I lost her for good?

My jenday is named Jendy, I found him at the local pet store. When I asked for a good bird they kinda laughed, so I asked for the meanest 1 and found jendy. I gave it to my girlfriend "who is a vet tech" as a b-day present. The vet there said no one could hold him but from the first day I brought him home He loves my girlfriend, he likes to play in her hair, lol. We take him outside, he flies around a little then returns home. We leave the front door open until he returns, and yeah, the first time was an accident. He really likes to laugh with us and sounds just like me, lol. And he attacks over weight people for some reason. My neighbor is deathly scared of him, lol. happy timez
