Although our Citron Crested Cockatoo wasnt treated properly for first 5 years of life until we brought her home she is a joy to have around and we treasure her very much. She is great to be around but not for everyone to own since they are very demanding on time and attention. Best of luck to all our feathered friends.

We have had Galahs for over 25 years having raised two males from fledgings in Australia. We received permission from the Australilan Government to take them with us to the US via quarantine in 1982. Luke passed away this past March, cause unknown, so now Laddie is a bit lonely. Be aware that in our experience they do BITE.

They love corn on the cob, spaghetti, chicken wing bones, and scrambled eggs. They have never been clipped but can no longer fly for any distance. The are wonderful loving birds but do need lots of attention and get testy when left alone.

I have four birds but my goffin's cockatoo Bobby is my favorite. He is such a cuddle bum. He loves to be petted all over; head, wings, tail, feet, he doesn't care as long as the petting keeps comming! His favorite toy is a blue toothbrush which he likes to fling around. He will hold the toothbrush in his feet and roll onto his back. He also hops around in front of a big mirror I have on my bedroom door. I think he knows its his reflection. Bobby has a very big vocabulary for a cockatoo. He says "I love you" "hello bobby" "hello mom" "how ya doing" "I am a good bird" "hey" "hi" "bobby birdie" and a few other things that aren't yet clear enough for me to figure out. Bobby has tons of toys but is always afraid of new ones the first day. Then he figures out they are fun instead of scarey and plays with them. He likes to watch TV from his cage. His favorite TV shows are Planets Funniest Animal's and Pet Star. He gets all excited when another cockatoo is on TV.

Goffins Cockatoos are wonderful for someone who has time to spend snuggling and playing with them. Mine LOVES to be on me where ever I go and whatever I am doing. They arent as bad of screamers as everyone says, Just when they are excited or upset about something. Goffins love to hop around, hang upsidown, dance and vocalize. They are really great birds, they can also be very emotional so please always treat them with respect, remember if they wanted to they could do a lot of harm but they choose not to because they love you. They deserve that love in return.

I have a 1 month old Umbrella Cockatoo and i know its not a long time but i can only say right now that she is adorable, I agree with everyone, they are alot of work but i guess its getting used to the change of life. i had a Macaw and now i have a Quaker and i have Mollie, and i can only say that Cockatoos are the best little cuddlers and sweet babies.
My Macaw was sweet but too hyper and she would bite. she is gone and i miss her terribly. thats why i had to get another bird but decided to change breeds and i think i made a great choice. a lot of people tell me that when they reach maturity they will change, but until then i will go day by day with her and try to tame her as much as i can. we all have bad days, so why not them.

We have a bonded pair of Galahs, named Didlee (Female) and Goober (Male). They are absolute characters. We have had Didlee for 4 years and Goober will be three this year, both bought as little birdies. It hasn't taken either of them long to work out who is boss though...they are. Their favourite toys are toilet rolls, rolls of sticky tape and nail clippers. They are spoilt brats, who get taken outside to their 'Lounge', a 1.5x1.5m aviary every day(wrapped in a towel so they dont fly away - we do not clip their wings) and at night before it gets too cool they are brought in again to their 'bedroom' - the indoor cage. Their favourite food is corn on the cob and mashed potatos, and they get free flight times all around the inside of the house....and trust me its LOUD. They are friends to a couple of Rosey Burkes (Rosy and Burke) and two finches (Lilo and Twitch) as well as numerous fish which they like to watch, and a cat (Julius) who they tell off when he catches their Pigeon friends.
All in all they are very enjoyable and I hope one day they will breed.

i have an umbrella and she is a big sweetheart. i also have a quaker and although bonnie is huge conpared to sweety, she will back off if he squares up to her. she could easily bite his head off but has never touched him yet. she snuggles up to all of the family not just me. watch your jewelry. all parrots like shiny things but bonnie makes a beeline for my rings. i would not recommend one of these birds until you have thought how long a commitment they are. thinking fifty years is ok on paper until you do it, and can't go on holiday or you feel ill and want to stay in bed. umbrellas don't get it and can scream the house down, not to mention stripping them selves naked.
