hello
I HAVE GOFFIN COCKATOO, A FRIEND OF MY SON'S GAVE IT TO ME BECAUSE SHE WAS SO LOUD BUT MAYBE BECAUSE I spend time with her she acts different. I have more birds like a lady gouldian, shaft tail, canaries, parakeet,
and pomeranian dogs (3 beautiful girls).
the name of my goffin is "LOLA' and she is beatiful, but I am looking for a male for her. I think this is what she needs now because the other birdshave babies and maybe she observes this from the rest and shes not acting ok. I need to look for a male for her

Aloha from The Bird Guy! Cockatoos are really the best bird for a pet in my opinion! They are like kids! They need alot of attention and can be a bit noisy but oh so lovable!!!! :) So if you have the time for a great pet cockatoos are swell! Best to get them very young and hand feed if you can and treat it well and you'll have a super animal for a long time. At www.birdguyhawaii.com you'll see some of the others. Come to Hawaii and visit us! Aloha!!

I have a wild caught rescue Goffins named Beeker, there are a few things you left out on here. They are little locksmiths, and with rescues and wild caught Goffins, threy require they same amount of space and attention as a child.

We have an Umbrella Cockatoo that was given to us a few months ago. She is 7 years old and has brought so much happiness to our lives. When we are not home, her cage has a box in it with toys, balls and wooden clothespins. She loves to go in the box and throw all her toys out. She also chews on the wooden clothespins which I replace everyday. The box, toys and wooden clothespins were suggested to me by her previous owner. She also goes in her plastic swimming pool outside and tosses her toys all around in the water! Scrambled eggs and apples are some of her favorite foods among a few. She is a very loveable and cuddly bird and I'm so happy that we "adopted" her!

OUR GOFFIN'S NAME IS "COOKIE". SHE'S THE SWEETEST! WE PURCHASED HER FROM A BREEDER AT 4MONTHS OLD. MY TWO BOYS, AGES 6 AND 7 LOVE HER. SHE IS VERY GENTLE WITH THEM. AT TIMES SHE WILL NIP A LITTLE, ESPECIALLY WHEN SHE'S NOT READY TO BE HANDLED RIGHT AWAY. WE PRETTY MUCH GOTTEN HER OUT OF THAT HABIT. SHE'S SO FUNNY!!! SHE LOVES TO BE CUDDLED UNDER MY CHIN AND LOVES PLAYING IN THE SPRINKLER WITH THE BOYS. TOO FUNNY!!!!

Dakota Bird,

She was adopted at three years old, and is the sweetest thing you can imagine. I've learned to "ration" my time with her to a few hours aday, so she is used to being alone at times. I think this is best if your cockatoo can adapt to this schedule, or you may end up needing to spend every minute of every day with your parrot. By all reports she is happy and well adjusted, and loves to go places with me, and meet people. She attends our local parade each july forth. She also visits schools, nursing homes and libarary. She is extremely gentle and loves to cuddle.

Here is a pic from our parade if anyone cares to download

She brightens up the lives of everyone she meets.

Don

ps. note to editor, feel free to remove the line and download info, its not a full "url" but noticed your rules. I just wanted to share her pic.

My cockatoo, Kiki was very nice, she knew how to say alot of words including knowing my children by their names. She would even say "I got to go to the bath room". She could say almost anything and would make you laugh and then she would laugh at you. She was a real sweetie. She was our best friend and now she's gone. She pass away 06/12/2006 and will truely be missed. We loved her very much. She will always be in our hearts. Maybe one day we'll get another Cockatoo. Kiki was great.

I have a sesser sulphur crested cockatoo named Coqui and she is a sweetheart. Unfortunately, she was mistreated from the time she was weaned until we bought her 3 years later. Her previous owners spent a fortune when they first bought her (we have their receipts) on toys, food, a cage, etc. But by the time we got her, the only thing in her very dirty cage was a 1' long cement perch. She was never allowed out of the cage, and we assume she might have been abused because she is very neurotic, and frightens easily. We have had her for 8 months now, and last week, I was finally able to pick her up and sit her on my lap without her freaking out. She won't let us take her out of her cage, but she enjoys jumping around on it when she is out. She is beautiful and very loving, and she lets us scratch her behind her head while she is on or in her cage. It's taking time, but our little Coqui is very much worth it !!!
