This is an update on my 4 year old Dinosaurous! He is still quite the character. Lately he got into a huge chewing mood and I am going through wood toys like crazy, but somehow I think that I have a compulsive obbsesive personality on my hands and this period will pass again much like his previous habits. Have had cage bail-outs, millet stage, plush toy stage, wing feather distraction stage, climbing on the curtains stage, and many more that I can't recall right now. I am embarrased to say, but his favorite toy is a new wrapped tampax! So, from time to time when I am taking a bath, I bring Dino in the bathroom and give him his very own tampon to destroy. He is sooo funny with it, because of its many layers and textures he loves to peel off the soft paper, then he loves the cardbord applicator, and when he gets to the string... he starts throwing it around on the mat. It's absolutely hilarious! I LOVE HIM SO MUCH

I am proudly owned by 4 birds. Yellow-nape amazon, goffin cockatoo, african grey timneh. They are like my children. I got "Jericho" (his middle name is Houdini,...and for good reasons LOL) almost 2 years ago. He is almost 3 now. He was the 2nd parrot I purchased. I can't imagine life without him. I can't tell you how many times I came home (before I got his cage to where he couldn't escape) and found him waiting at the door saying "Whatcha doin?" when I open the front door. Of course being concerned for his safety I had to find a way to keep him in his cage when I was gone. He is a clown,..he chases my son around the living room. He has related that when my son gets off of the carpet and steps on tile he is safe and will wait for him to get back on the carpet. He plays simon says with my son when my son says simon says flap your wings,...Jericho will flap his wings and say " I did it,..I'm a pretty birdie" He is nothing less than an angel. :) My hubby whom isn't a bird lover has grown so attached to Jericho. Jericho rides the motorcycle at low speeds. My hubby told him one day after they rode "Jericho you're the man." It went to Jericho's head. I brought him inside and the other birds were all talking. All of a sudden Jericho blurted out "Shut up didn't you know I'm the man!" He is very good talker and puts sentences together himself! I LOVE him so much! I love them all but have grown quite attached to him myself! :)

I love my cockatoo Ben, he is the biggest baby you've ever seen I think of him as my own child & wouldn't take anything in the world for him. Ben has been in my family since he was 6 years olds & now he is 21, he follows me everywhere around the house & loves to cuddle under the blanket with me when I lay on the couch watching t.v. & the cutest thing of all is watching him shower with my husband. Can't help but love him!

We adopted a 12 year old rescue LSC. He is now named Hakuryu. He is quite independent for a cockatoo, but also loves attention on his terms. We has been a part of our family for almost 3 yrs and is a delight. He had a horrible past and we are working on him with his aggression. He is only loud when you are standing in front of the TV. He loves music. He is a typical cockatoo because he loves to dance and entertain and he says a few phrases like Pretty, pretty bird, and hi and bye, etc. He has a really large cage and uses every square inch of it since it has so many toys and different perches and is very active. A cockatoo is not for the faint of heart and they will test all boundaries and when they bite they leave little "smiley" faces. A peson who has a baby cockatoo needs to be patient because when they hit puberty (2-5 yrs), they get very nippy and no longer the love sponge they wanted.

I am owned by a wonderful Citron Cockatoo named Tenny. He is a rescue and has been with me for about 8 years now. I love him more than anything! He is the funniest person I know and there is no other person Id rather spend my time with! But, he is a parrot, and like most parrots, are only about one generation out of the wild. They are still very much "wild" and they behave accordingly. He screams sometimes, and can be really loud. He is one of 12 parrots in the house. He is also very messy and my vacuum never gets put away! Sometimes this is hard to remember when you are looking at your parrot, in your living room, and he is acting crazy! It can be overwhelming! Please, anyone looking to share their life with a bird, do your research first. Know that they chew everything, they are loud and messy, and if you are an adult, they will probably outlive you. They are expensive to keep and to upkeep. And, no matter what anyone tells you, they will and do bite. Hard. Its usually nothing personal, its just the way it is. Its a way they can let us know they are upset or angry. Just yesterday, Tenny bit a hole through my lower lip. Yes, all the way through...I am an experienced parrot owner and have been doing this for a long time, and as Ive mentioned, I have 12. This is the kind of thing that can make a person give up their bird. This isn't the first time Ive been bitten. I needed stitches in my lip. All of my birds are rescues. Please think twice before getting a bird.

PLEASE READ ADS WITH CAUTION - AS THIS PERSON NOTES, THEY ARE NOT NECESSARILY RELATED TO YOUR PET:
"In your "Care and feeding" paragraph you have a word 'Nutrition' that is highlighted to click on. When you just run your cursor over it, a balloon pops up that gives you a lot of food choices. This leads people to think that these are the foods that they can give their cockatoo. This is NOT THE FOOD THAT YOU GIVE TO YOUR COCKATOO!!! Because one of the electives in the balloon says CHOCOLATE, which is TOXIC to cockatoos and other birds as well.
The reason I am mentioning this, is that a friend of mine just got a 'too', and got into your site at my house and saw the nutrition thing. She says to me "Wow! How fun! You can give them Chocolate treats!!!" Then when I told her No this is not true, that it is toxic, she said "No it isn't! It says right here that these are the foods that you can give them"
I would advise you to change this, as it is very misleading, and may harm some Sweet "Toos" out there. And I know you wouldn't like this, as your site is very special and informative, and I know you care about animals.
Thank you for your time."

I have never laughed so hard in my life as I do when Too-too, aka Tootsie is on the floor playing. Yep, she tosses things, rolls on her back and looks like she is lifting weights (her toys) and dances, prances, and shows off any way she can. WHAT a comical little bird. Wouldn't trade her for the world.

Hi, my name's Sarah and I have a four year old Greater Sulpher Crested Cockatoo called Ade. I got him when he was two months old so we have a very close bond. He's sitting on my lap as I type this! He's a big show off and loves doing his tricks in front of people. He has a big vocabulary, he says, "Hello", "Whatcha doing?", "How ya going?", "What's that?" and he whistles, laughs, imitates dog barks and the phone ringing. He loves playing and chewing things, he demolishes a wooden toy in no time. The only problem is that he doesn't like many other people and sometimes bites them, he also doesn't like males and little kids, so he is a bit unpredictable. But with me, he's fine, only bites me if he's a bit cranky or I do something he doesn't like. He's beautiful and my favourite boy!!!
Love Sarah and Ade (Brisbane, Australia)

Greetings Animalia Lovers- I have recently purchased a beautiful male citron. I named him Kapi, which translates to: STAR, in the southeastern dialect of Sumbanese (Sumba Island, Indonesia-citron origin). In a home of four fantastic dogs, two tanks of terrific fish, and our sensational cinnamon-cheek conure, our citron, Kapi, is truly the "star" of the home. His intelligence is an astonishing sight. Anyone contemplating bringing one of these beautiful creatures into your home please DO YOUR HOMEWORK, and reap the endless benefits of your decision.
