Hi, I am the proud owner of two beautiful cockatiels. a 14 month old pied male named buddy who whistles pop goes the weasel and says hello buddy. he loves hanging upside down from the curtain rod and exploring all the surfaces in the house to find out which makes the loudest noise when he knocks on it with his beak. The other is our baby lutino who is 9 weeks old and still just wants to be cuddled all the time. I am also lucky enough to live in regional australia where once or twice a year large flocks of wild cockatiels gather on the telegraph lines just out of town. It is always a thrill to watch the way they act in the wild and to see how much of my companion cockatiels behaviour is instinct.

I currently have many birds and am always looking for more. But my favorite is my 3/4 year old lutino Cockatiel "Crisco". He is so cute and he loves to play with his friends the budgies(I currently have 5). When i purchased him he was a little demon and put a hole in the avian who sold him to me, but after i put the oven mits on and said hello he couldnt have been happier to be here! But after i took him to the other aviary to get his nails clipped the said he might not live because he wasnt on the correct diet, and because he had been on it so long he might not accept anything else. MY heart stopped because he was my friend! they recommended " Tropican Lifetime Granules for cockatiels" by Hagen

I have a freshly-bathed lutino on my shoulder as I type this. We got him in January, and this thing is spoiled rotten. He was a hand-fed baby, so he's easy to handle, and he LOVES attention. He'll go to my parents when they call him (or sometimes when they don't), and he loves sharing whatever anyone's eating. We finally settled on naming him Cy Kwan about a month ago (he's been Gene Louis, Smeagol, Fluff, and Whistler). He loves having his neck scratched and eating out of our hands. My mom thinks of him as another baby, which is funny. We love him, and he loves us back.

Most of the time.

Hi,my name is Chase,we got a cockatiel about a year ago and it's name is sunshine. It's VERY hyper when I come home from school. At some pionts it will flinch and throw its wings up. It's so funny. I just love it.

The caging specified is way too small, unless such a cage is being used for sleep only. Cockatiels are nomadic to migratory and require lots of exercise in order to stay healthy. An optimal cockatiel cage is large enough for the bird to fly short distances with a bar spacing either 5/8" or 3/4" wide. In addition to such a cage, a cockatiel needs out of cage flight time in order to allow the bird to remain airborne for a sustained period of time.

While such a cage is often expensive, it is an investment that pays off in a longer life for each bird and lower medical costs. For my whiteface lutino, it has made all the difference in the world.

Loki is most definitely a pretty boy cockatiel. Notice the bright yellow head. Most cockatiel girls have a greyish head and also a barred rump and outer tail feathers. The two outermost tail feather on the girls will be yellow with grey bars. The flight feathers on girls also have yellow spots that are only noticable when the bird stretches theirs wing or flies. Cockatiels are very sweet birds. They are not aggressive or nippy and it's weird to come across a cockatiel who is unless they are wild and then they bite just because they're scared. Tame cockatiels, absolute sweethearts though. My bird is a girl named Angel, but I wonder if I should change the name because it's not very creative or anything and I feel awkward calling her that and usually we just call her bird or birdy or something like that. And she is also very sweet, but more so when she was a baby when she got the name Angel. Now she has more of a personality (birdyality?) and she'll holler at me if she gets aggravated at me about something. She needs a cooler name though like Loki, that's a cool name, but a guys name and taken.

In my opinion these little birds are underated. They are by far the best companion for all ages. They are great with any creature you introduce to them, and they love a little to alot of attention. Unlike the larger parrots these little birds are happy for just a small portion of your time and will give you double-triple what you chose to give them. I have been breeding these creatures for 8 years and enjoyed all the time and work involved and referr these as the best pet for all!

Hi my name is Soumia, and I own a lutino Cockatiel. His name is Sunshine. I got him from my next door neigbors when they were moving 3 yrs ago. He is a very friendy bird. But if you give him your finger he will bite it like a piece of meat. I love my bird with all my heart & soul, he is my baby. Everyday I am just so thankful that he is mine. He is my first pet, but hpoefully not my last. I love Lutino Cockatiels.
