I have been involved with redfactor canaries for many years and when I hear the stupid myth regarding a fertile mule bred by crossing a venezuelan black hooded red siskin / spinus coculatus with a canary to breed a fertile mule, I must say I have to laugh any one who believes this is a real fool. Ok man can interfere with nature once by breeding a mule or hybrid, but the pairings, be it birds or animals, are always born infertile as this is mother natures way of saying once is enough. just think if nature never stepped in we would not have any one true species of birds or animals. So please don't believe this nonsense regarding the redfactor canary, it was bred just the way he yellow or any of the other colours are by selective breeding, remember the original canary is green and is still with us.

I think the redfactor canary is one of the most beautiful canaries. As I have kept them for over 40 years now they still catch my eye with their colour the only hing I have always disagreed on is the therory regarding the crossing of a fertile mule or hybrid to get the red colour. This as we should all be aware of, is not so. The red just like the yellow has been introduced by selective breeding. Just emagine if we bred fertile hybrids, we would never have a true species of birds or any animal in fact. No man can interfere once and breed a mule or hybrid but nature steps in and says thats enough. So the books would need to be rewrote properly again and remove that silly prank that hey put in years ago. So I hope the breeders keep up their good work as there are still so many colours we have yet to breed in the redfactors and newcoloured canaries.

I believe I would very much like to have a male singer in the Yorkshire type. I am overwhelmed with their looks. I have been a canary lover all my life.

My canary has a bad leg. When she is on the perch her knee joint looks like it is swollen, and when she is on the floor she squats. When she is sitting on the perch she also squats and does not stand up. She does fly but not very well. She is this years bird and i got her from a breeder who had kept her in a single breeder cage, so she only hopped from perch to perch.
