My mother has a male red factor canary. For the last six months the canary started to tear up the bottom of his cage and hiding in the corner under the water dish. When we would check on him he would just open his beak. This week we bought a little nest and he actually is nesting in the nest. Is this a normal action for these birds?

These little guys like a safe and quiet spot to hang out in. A nest works. It is normal.

    Hello Ron
I'm making a radio program about singing birds including Roller Canaries. Would it be possible to contact you about your experience with the Roller?
    Best wishes,

    Hi Youssef,
You could contact Pedro at Paradise Bird Shop in the borough of Brooklyn, New York City. He has many good Canaries of different types:
    http://paradisebirdshop.com/

Also, the most expert source for information on the Spanish Timbrado Canary would be:
    http://spanishtimbrado.us/Home_Page.php

    Hope that helps,

I have just bought a Parisian frill (Male). Do these breed in the spring or later as I have been told. Anyone know?

I've had a canary for about 2 years now, It sings a little it's in a big cage that's 20 inches wide by 30 inches and 35 inches tall. Should I get another male bird would that help? I used tapes and that didn't help much either.

Hello,
As a breeder of Classic Spanish Timbrado Canaries, ...Canaries do need toys. They certainly do! They are very bright, smart, inquisitive birds and are much more content with 'something to do' being quite actively interactive with their toys. Toys of rope, string and paper are best.
Best Regards,
Susan Kuhne

Hello Susan, As a breeder/keeper for many years of Fife and Gloster Canaries I have just discovered via the internet the charming Spanish Timbrado Canary-yourself being a breeder of this species could you help me in obtaining some of these birds, or do you know of any breeders in the Tarragona region in Spain? Thank you for any help or information that you may give to me.
