I would recommend an orange-winged amazon parrot to anyone, they are fun and can be your best friends for life. I got my parrot from my uncle when he was just a weaned baby, from the wild, in Trinidad, and altough i'm here in the U.S, my grandmother takes care of him to this very day. his name is Victor and he's about 18-20 years old. he's good at repeating his name and singing beautiful melodies when you drum or sing for him. He has a special bond with me, but especially my grandmother who he sees as his mother. he follows her everywhere, and comes out of his cage and perches on the stool in the kitchen when she's cooking. He's trained and would never fly away. Want a friend for life, get a parrot.

Hello,
As I write this, Wanda, my Blue Front is sitting on my shoulder anxiously awaiting her breakfast. See, Wanda had always eaten what we eat...if Im eating a bowl of fruit, she's right there awaiting her snack. Anyways, I have had Wanda for close to 30 years, she's my companion, my little feathered daughter.
My entire family always gets a kick out of her, she loves sitting on my shoulder while Im on the computer...she tells us "Nite-Nite" when she wants to go to bed.
The only thing that makes me sad is she is a one person bird and I cant share her loving, silly ways with anyone else.
Anyway for all you new owners, treat your Blue Front well, they will love you unconditionally.

I am now the very proud owner of a white-fronted amazon. He is 3 months old. I feel very lucky to have him at this stage. He was hand fed and has a very sweet temperment. I only wish he would like to come out of his cage more. We leave the door open a lot as a sort of an invitation to join us. But most times we carry him out. No name yet. But I'm leaning towards "Groucho"(because he looks like he is wearing a little green suit and the way he leans forward when he walks holding his peanut, it almost looks like a cigar).
Love being able to talk about him somewhere else. My friends are probably tired of me telling them "You have to see THE BABY!".

i just got lucky LOL (no pun intended) my apparent 8 year old OW amazon parrot from a lady who was too busy for it anymore. its name is lucky, im not sure if its a boy or girl tho. doesnt talk for the old owner so im hoping it will for me someday. the bird was strongly bonded with her daughter and would attack her daughters b/f. ive had lucky out of the cage crawling around on me just fine but he really took to my g/f and his eyes light up when she speaks to him. he loves her very much. ive been sure to hug her around him so that he will get used to me and her together and not think of me the same way he thought of the old owners daughter b/f. cant wait to spend many years with lucky :)

My mealy, Benny, is my baby. He refers to me as "sweetie" - he's quite the ladies' man. He is extremely active and can be VERY loud! He has an uncanny knack for ruining the good parts of movies with his chicken impression. I would advise anyone looking to get an amazon that they are very rambunctious and strong-willed, and you always have to be one step ahead of them!

We have had our Red Crowned Amazon for almost 30 years. She's quite the lady, although she never was fond of being handled. She was a caught bird, so we never really pushed her. Our Jackie will get on our finger, ride on our shoulders, and give kisses. She had a cage mate, that was a nanday conure for 15 years until he had a stroke and we had to put him to rest. But she adjusted well because we also had a Greater Patagonian, and she liked him too, and they share the cage. Our Groucho is also nearing 30 yrs. old. We also have a Pied Dove, Pywacket, not in the same cage. He is 18 yrs old. We had 2 large dogs that grew up with our birds. When we had to put our Sadie to rest our birds didn't eat well or rest well. But, they adjusted because we still had our first dog, Annie. But, when Annie was put to rest, all 3 birds went into mourning. It took 3 months of vet visits and medicine before they started to get better. They weren't eating, or making their noises, nothing. It took almost 10 months for Groucho to start talking again. It took even longer for him to bark and say "Come here", that is how he would call our girls. Animals do mourn!!! So watch all your pets when there is an absence of a human or another pet in your house for any reason!

hi my name is trevor, im 14 and i have a yellow naped amazon with a little panama in him. his name is goose because of his loud and annoying screeches! instead of finding ways to shut him up i found that its easier just to give him what he wants, attention. these are social birds and have 1 special person as there partner. if that is you, they are probably calling for attention from you! i also found that he is very protective of me also. his perch is in my room and whenever my dad comes in to wake me up he immediatly flares his eyes and feathers at him! my dad has also tried many times to pet or hold him, but goose bites and acts weird when hes around! i think its funny! thank you, just wanted to share
p.s. i think a parrot or just a bird is the greatest pet for any one loving

I am quite the bird fan. I have two young Blue and Gold Macaws, Buddy and Merlin; a Jenday Conure, Paco, a Senegal, Connie, and of course a Blue Front, Nemo. Nemo is the baby in my birdie family; he's only a year old and he's talks up a tornado! He tries to be friends with all of my birds, and he's quite the charmer! They make amazing, and silly, pets!
