My White Fronted Amazon has been sexed a female. I have noticed when she is very content, that she exudes a musky odor. This is on top of her normal "amazon odor". I have not seen any documentation regarding this. My Yellow Nape does not do this.

My family has cared for two panama-amazons now for 33 years. Peter Pan and Captain Cook have an extensive vocabulary and continue to pick up new wonderful sounds and words. They love fresh fruits and vegetables but never pass up a chance to eat from our plates either. Their intelligence never ceases to amaze me. Amazons make amazing pets and family members.

We just got a 15 yr old BLIND Mealy. I purchased him on Christmas Eve 2006. He has Cataracts in both eyes, poor thing :( Paco is the nicest bird that you could ask for. I also own a Moluccan Cockatoo & a Senegal parrot. Paco is adapting very well to his new home and boy what an appetite he has. Happy Holidays from David & Ronna 2006 So. Cali.

My BFA is called Ollie. Had him since he was 13wks old, and is now 7mths.
Ollie is just like having another child in our home, and is treated like a baby and doesn't he just know it, lol. He has everything we have, share's bath time with all of us. I hate to see any animal caged. Ollie has the free roam of our home, he sleep's upstairs with us, then comes down with the children for his breakfast.
Such a great talker too, his favorite sayings have to be "Ollie's a good boy", "Hello" in about 10 different way's, "Daddy", "Ollie's dad", "that's my dad", call's me "mar", say's when asked where jack or stacey is, "gone to school", "kiss kiss dad", "ollie's a pain".
When he is out of site and i call him he shouts back "what" he will also ask what your doing.
He waits in the window for our return or waiting for his daddy to come home, then all heck breaks loose.
Ollie is my bird but when his daddy is home no one may as well be home.
He is such a sweet bird, has his moments and ends up in jail as the kids say.
Birds can be so misunderstood, all they need is time and understanding, Ollie can be a naughty boy as with all birds.
Never mistreat them and you will get years of happiness and love back.

I am owned by a White Fronted Amazon named Emerald. That's "Emmie" for short. Emmie is marked like a male, but acts like a female. He has a pet budgie that he feeds and protects relentlessly and lives in my bird room with 13cockatiels and 3 budgies. Emmie loves me, and inter-acts with me, but I must go into the bird room to visit. Emmie will not leave the rest of the flock even though Emmie is never allowed inside the others flight cage. Emmie can be deadly to smaller birds if not watched--Amazons must have their way or else!!! Emerald whistles the Mexican hat dance, and says I love you, come here, and how are you? Emmie also speaks fluent budgie and cockatiel. When Emerald is scared he will fly outside of the bird room to find me, and has a habit of turning his back on anything that he doesn't want to confront. New owners need to remember to keep these guys socialized and happy. The time it takes to socialize them is well worth it. I love Emerald, and Emerald loves me.

I have an orange-wing amazon parrot, love him so much and he is a hoot. He is the light of my life and the greatest gift a friend could ever give me. I have had him for 7 years now. he was 5 years old when given to me. he needed a good home and I always wanted an amazon for so long as well. He is 12 years old now and in great health as well and so, so spoiled.

Tonto came into my life in 1983 & pretty much runs the house. He will sometimes sleep with his girlfriend Sadie a nine/almost 10year old Rottweiler/Black Lab at the foot of my bed (where he can also view himself in the mirrored closet doors). He helps in the kitchen too, he cleans chicken bones (loves the marrow) on the kitchen counter & will throw scraps down to his girlfriend. For christmas last year he got a full floor to ceiling tree in the corner of our living room so he can hang out with us when watchin TV (likes football very much) & will attack my brother if he tries to pet Sadie...

I've had a Mexican Red Head (or Green Cheek) Amazon for 3 months now. Paco was 15 weeks old when I brought him home. He's already developed quite a vocabulary!! I have 8 other birds and he's adapted well to them and they to him. He definitely prefers females to males, but he will allow my husband to pick him up. He loves to "hang out" with me, no matter what I'm doing. I like to make bird toys for my birds and I have a large plastic bin that I keep the supplies stored in. When I bring the bin up from the basement, Paco knows what I'm going to be doing for the next few hours and wants to "help" too. He sits on the edge of the bin and pokes through all the wood pieces, rawhide strips and bells, as if he's the Quality Control Manager! He loves to take showers! When he's in the shower, he flaps his wings like mad and vocalizes at the top of his lungs. I'm looking forward to many happy years with this dear bird.
