I have a 1 year old Green Naped Lorikeet called Ruby. I could not agree more with so many of the comments I have read here, they make the very best companions and Ruby is no exception. She mimics a great deal and takes great pleasure in mimicking the sound of the Microwave finishing; a great way to get me out of the front room and gain my attention. I have taken some great photos of her and placed them on my website. Take a look www.ianrbanks.co.uk.

Hi everyone! Just got two little babies yesterday and they are the cutest little birds. One is yellow and one is a sky blue. When my daughter and I went to the pet store yesterday, I told her the two birds that were the easiest to catch were the ones going home with us. These two birds came right to both of us and let us pick them up and rub their heads. I said these are the ones going home with us! When we got them home and in their new home, they just pretty much stayed like that the rest of the evening. This morning we woke up to both of them just crimping up a storm so I guess they are happy. We are trying to think of some unique names for them!

Our bird is a very sweet natured bird who loves to play. She is now whistles and speaks few phrases, listens to music and sings with the radio and me. She is under 1 year old. She plays hide and seek. She likes to be the center of every activity from dinner preparation to sewing and puppies. She loves to swing and climb so she stays out of her cage 99% of the time, unless she is biting. Occasionally she will bite. Usually only if she thinks someone is afraid of her, or if it is a stranger who has not been introduced properly. Generally she is very social.

I once had a male Gouldian Finch named "Johnny". When I put some shredded paper in his cage, he began "rolling" his cage. He also liked to drape the paper everywhere, even from the top of his swing, and it was the funniest sight! I loved his dance. When he would see himself in the mirror he would begin jumping up and down in place while he sang. Finally, I bought him a mate we named "Frankie". These two birds were very cute together, especially when they slept side by side. Later I provided a nest and Frankie layed eggs. My family was so excited that we were going to have babies! Sadly, one morning I woke up to find Johnny lying dead on the eggs. I wish I knew what happened.

My white-faced grey male,Zane,is a joy..I awaken every morning to his cheerful whistling & chatter..He is crippled in one leg where he was nearly killed by his parents in the nest(they killed all of his clutchmates)and he was given to me to handfeed by a friend & he ended up telling me to keep him..

I have a year old lorikeet called Toot. Toot is very amazing and loves attention. He loves to get out of his cage to fly around. He loves to chat. He says: Hello,Come on,Come,Whatcha doin?, Whats that?,Whats that smell? And he also says my husbands name, which is Robert. Toot also says a lot of other words, but these are the main words he says. I love this bird a great deal and i cant imagine my life without him.

We have a family of ringnecks who live in the wild and come several times a day to our feeder in SW Florida. They love sunflower seeds, and will stay at the feeder for 10-15 minutes at a time sometimes. The youngsters stay and eat the most.

My son just gave me a pair of parakeets, he had no idea I had wanted a pair for over a year. I love them! They are so sweet. Their names are "Nip" and "Tuck", they are just getting used to sitting on my finger. Your website is invaluable for information on making their new home as comfortable as possible for them. Thank you!

Sisser was my best friend and the dearest pet I have ever had. I was 13 when I got him, he was yellow with a green spot between his wings
and a tiny green spot on his chest also. His feet were pink and his pretty little beak was orange with a light purple nose. It was love at first sight. He loved to sleep in my hand or on my pillow. He was always out of his cage and always with me...in the shower or when I did homework. At three months of age he started talking saying: Sisser, I love you, You are sooo handsome, Good morning sweethart,
I want to take a bath, Shake(he would shake my finger with his foot)
and honestly I can not remember all his phrases. He was so tame
and so smart. When I turned 18 my parents hired a fashion photographer to capture his funny antics and my gift was a wall full of the most impossibly cute pictures of a fav yellow friend. He came with me to college and picked up a few un-classy words on the way. He was tougher on boyfriends than my dad was. He drew blood on one who tried to kiss me in front of him(he warned him with loud hissing first, he SHOULD have backed off). Well, at age 21 I fell in love with my american husband and moved from Denmark to the US leaving Sisser with my parents. Mom said he was happy and playful still and always out. He died at age 13 after having slowed down for about six months. I could not stop crying despite knowing he had had the happiest life any bird could want. But then I had a black and gray tattoo done of him on my ankle and so I feel he is still with me. I now have three birds, four dogs, four turtles, two cats and a hamster and I am studying to become a vet. I love you Sisser, till we meet again at the Rainbow Bridge. Charlotte.
