I recently purchased a peach front conure from a local pet store. We named her "Kiwi". She had her toe amputated about two weeks before I purchased her. She was still the sweetest bird! I could not resist when she cuddled both myself and my 17 yr old son. She is about 2 months old. It only took a couple of weeks before she started to speak. She says: hello, bye-bye, love you, and makes kissing noises when you say kissy-kissy. She loves anyone who will pay her attention! She is a wonderful addition to our family! When she squalks, she is just saying hello or wondering where you are. I just say "here I am" and pop back into the room and she stops. Kiwi likes coffee, too; but I wont let her have any since I read that caffeine is very bad for little bird hearts! Now she gets her next favorite- cranberry juice!

I just want everyone out there to be very careful when they choose a toy for their precious Lori. A lot of toys have metal chains which can be a health hazard. Because Lories have a mop like tongue they love the taste of anything-in particular metal. Also be careful with the choice of cage. Some cages are made from cheap metal. Im only speaking from first hand. My Charrlee past away due to my ignorance and lack of education towards his toys. I miss him every day. Like other Lori owners I had to buy another because the house was totally quiet without their beautiful yet cheeky personality. I am now much more aware about these precious lories

I had 2 of these birds. they are very sweet birds. they are also very smart. They would come to me when I called their names. They followed me around like a dog. They are loud but are very good pets.

My grandmother has kept various birds over the years: finches, lovebirds, parakeets, and grey cockatiels just to name a few. By far the tiels were my absolute favorites. She has two, Misty Rain and Tammie Lynn, and they are just about the sweetest things you have ever seen! Misty especially. She is an older bird (almost 20) with a very sweet and tame disposition. Tammie is younger (about 8) and she is by far the more rambunctious. However, "Tamtam" as she is lovingly called, lays EGGS constantly!! My grandmother assumed that when she bought Tammie that she, like Misty, would not be an egglayer, but she lays eggs faithfully. They are very intelligent birds though and probably the cleanest of the many birds my grandmother has cared for. I am actually thinking of getting a tiel myself. It is between one of the baby tiels that my cousin is going to breed or a pretty little purple parakeet. I just cannot decide. I am leaning toward the tiels however; cleaner.

our harlequin is 8 1/2 years old. his name is Baby and he is the ruler of our roost. he is the one that keeps our other birds in line.
it has been a long time joke that if it came down to my Baby or my husband that my husband had best pack his bags. these are the most wonderful of all species. everybody should have the opportunity in life to be loved as these birds can love you.

I got my rainbow lorikeet from a breeder I worked for, I named her Little Foot. I got her when she was four weeks old and now she is about 9 months. Ever since she was little she would shout "WOW!" now she says "Its ok", laughs, smooches, dances and screams with my sun conures. I am trying to teach her "I love you" next...she is such a joy and i couldnt picture life with out her..

I have 3 happy Parakeets. My Green one is named "PecoPeco" and loves
to fly around the living room, but also tends to crap on my curtains. Either way I love my birds.

Think we are breaking the size barrier with Cracker, a 4 month old Scarlett. Cracker is 1450 grams and is still slim, 33" in length. And as with all large macaws is very loving. "He" loves to play chase with our cats and sometimes the dog, although Shelby-Dog is 14 and not always up to it. I have several other hookbills but without a doubt my scarlett is my favorite !
