I have rescued three Green Cheeked Amazons, they were only a few days old when my husband found them at work. He thought they had died so he left them alone, they next day they were still alive and the parents were nowhere in sight. He brought them home and we have saved their little lives. They are going on 4 weeks old now. This is my first experience with hand feeding birds. Actually these are our first pets! If anyone else has had experience raising these types of Amazons I would love to communicate. I have some questions that concern me about their behavior. A few times in the morning they will hiss at me and snap. Maybe they are hungry. Feedings stop at 9:30pm until 6:00am. Or maybe they are scared. Who knows. They are very lovable and love to have their heads rubbed. I am now teaching them how to perch, soon will start weaning foods and moving them into a cage. We have a rose breasted cockatoo for over 3 years. She is very caring and loves to be around people and other animals. She is over 3 and a half years old. We talk her out whenever we can (most times) with a harness. This type of parrot is the best we have ever seen!!! She will be with us always and she is a great alarm system when any one or other animal is around the home! These bird are not biters but will peck sometimes for play!

my husband and I bought a mitred a few months ago. He is now about a year old. He talks alot. He says what ya doin, cmere, learning to say peekaboo, and goodboy. He has attempted those a few times. He is a very busy bird and loves attention. He is very very noisy. He is very sweet and loves to wrestle.

I have a lutino ringneck, named Infinity, that i just got bout 3 wks ago and she was born in Feb 2004. She is the most funniest bird i have. She loves to go for car rides, hanging on top of her cage, and messing with her toys. Shes a blast to be round.

I started with two and I now have eight! It was great fun to watch their courting and nest building, egg production and fledgling antics. I have developed a greater appreciation of all birds, thanks to my zebra finch friends!

I have 11 month green cheek, Sweety. She is the sweetest bird I have met! Just she never listens to me, for she loves to nibble on my face. Sometimes, she poofs her head up and tries to bite anything in sight, they have extraordianry personalities. I love it when she falls asleep in my hands. Some advice for new owners are train them from the very moment they are able to learn. Have fun!

I HAVE HEARD THAT THERE ARE A VARIETY OF FOODS THAT YOU SHOULD NOT FEED TO MACAWS SUCH AS CHOCOLATE. I AM NOT AWARE OF ALL OF THE DANGEROUS FOODS BUT I FELT THAT THE VIEWERS OF SHOULD BE MADE AWARE OF THEM.

I cannot imagine a more delightful bird! Our Bart is eight years old and has an extensive vocabulary, including phrases and imitations. He is not aggressive and allows hugs. He will also turn over for a belly rub and will hold our fingers in his mouth, while he bobs his head to give us a regurgitated treat. We have many birds, including a charming Cockatoo and a naughty Conure, but none as entertaining and sweet as our Catalina, Big Bart. I am so grateful for the experience.
