I currently own a Jenday Conure and I named it "Cuddles". These are the sweetest parrots ever. I already owned a Quaker Parrot and he was so possessive of me not even my husband could get near me. Cuddles will let anyone hold him/her. I'm currently waiting for the DNA sexing results. According to this site, "Cuddles" should be a male by the Pure White Ring around the eyes.

If you want a sweet, loving, affectionate parrot,Jenday Conures are for you.

We have had our dove since the pope came to Montreal in 1981. She stills coos along with me and is very gentile. I love when the sun fills her cage and she spreads her wings to take in the sun. They are great pets.

Hi, I have a "rare" parakeet (there were just as many of the "rare" kind as the "regular"kind, but anyway), and his name is Ivory. I bought him this past Monday. Tuesday evening I was playing the computer, when I heard this huge crash, and one of my cats came rocketing out of room. I knew immediately what had happened, and bolted in there to find a scared bird flapping against the window, and a cage in pieces on the floor. I eventually got everything cleaned up, Ivory had a cut on his head. Now it's Thursday, everything seems to be fine. He likes to whistle occassionally, but won't sit on my finger yet. The cat got scared senseless by the noise, and so far hasn't gone back to the cage. If you have cats and a bird...WATCH THE CAT(s)!!!!

I have a blue parakeet. He is 19 months old we named him booboo. his real name is booberry. he is spunky and calm at the same time. Once and a while he get agressive. This one time I was typing on the computer and he was biting me like there was no tomorrow, then after that my hand was entirely RED!

An important perspective on noise level: Patagonian conures are notorious for their high volume. I say high volume vs. loud because although their call is loud and possibly wall-piercing, they do not make it incessantly like my Quaker does, making my Quaker's constant noise MUCH louder than my Patty's occasional noise. Loud is a relative term, and the way species are labled is often misleading. That being said, they make excellent pets for those who do not live in apartments and have at least a couple hours to devote to them. They are the sweetest, cuddliest animals, and are great talkers and have quite the sense of humor. They are a good mix of affection and independence and retain the ability to entertain themselves on their own, making them higher-reward lower-demand than Cockatoos. Patagonians are excellent pet but with an over-inflated reputation for being "loud".

My wife got her senegal parrot 11 years ago. For the 1st 2 she was the only handler. I cannot sit next to her or move close to her when the parrot is on her shoulder. If she (my wife) is not around it is very pleseant.
Zeppie is a very fun bird, although she is very agressive in protecting her bonded partner, my wife!

My umbrella coackatoo(joe) was a rescue bird, and who ever thinks that rescue birds wouldn't be as friendly as store bought birds they are completely wrong. my cockatoo joe is extremely loving intelligent and cudly. joe was origionally willed to me and my family from my grandmas friend. but he started coming to my house to visit me and my family. the first time he came for a visit to my house, he didnt want to go back to his old house. so we have had joe for 5 months now and he is one of the best things that have ever happened to me. We take joe everywhere we go and he loves to come with us. we take him to childrens hospitals to visit the kids, old age homes, and also to numerous schools. joe can say approximately 50 words which is more then average for a cockatoo. he can also do lots of tricks! i have many other birds including budgies, cockatiels, asian crested dove, a rosella parrot and thats about all, but my umbrella cockatoo is definitely the one that is most involved with my family!

My little darling's name is petrie, and he has a wonderful nature. From day one he insisted on standing on my finger and affectionately preen my skin (im sure it was well meant!). I would like to warn all those who have a budgie that loves to fly to take care, as my little boy Sinbad ventured too far a few months ago. Enjoy your bird!

I have the same problem with one of my two male Eclectuses and have been told that they require more attention than other parrots. We did have a problem feeding and had to "force feed" through a tube which seemed to help as I suspect that it was hungry. It still screaches loadly in the morning then again at night. Looks like it is "in- bread" being more noisy than other Parrots. Good luck
