I love these guys, I'm thinking of getting a few to add with my african lung sometime in the future. Their habit of staying at the surface works well with my predatorial bottom feeding lungfish.

I have in my pond, about an acre, an albino catfish which would probably weigh between 8 to 10 lbs. It has survived numerous osprey, that dive my pond frequently after fish. Also aligators, very visible and very pretty. I was just wondering if anyone has any info or would like for me to send pictures. thank you for responding.

Ive had one of these for a few years. He was named Jeremy by a friend of mine who worked with me at the aquatics.

He is just over 2 feet long and right now lives happily in a Juwel Rio 180 with an oscar, a golden severum and a couple of plecs.

I may move him to a larger tank with perhaps some tinfoils and silver shark since they are mostly surface feeders and move too quickly for him but for now he's happy with the misfits.

Silver arowana grow very quickly, a 10" silver will be 24" within 12 to 18 months. A 3' x 1' x 1' tank is way too small, it is best to wait and provide a proper sized tank.

I heard about a golden arowana in our town on Balinsasayaw Lake in Sibulan Negros Oriental Philippines. I heard it from my friends that there was a golden arowana in that lake, the arowana was 1 and 1 half feet long. A fisherman caught the arowana in maybe 1995.

I am going to purchase a silver arowana 8-10 inches within a week. I had been keeping freshwater aquariums for 5-6 months. My current aquarium size is 3*1*1.

Great fish!! Keep it with my feeder guppies in a 55 gal tank. Enjoys worms and clams. Quiet fish and easy to keep as long as he's not hungry.

My brother had one of these guys when we were teenagers and we absolutely loved him. I recently got a large tank in my own place, and kept cichlids since I couldnt track down a lungfish. Well I tracked him down with the help of Craig's list community and only had to drive an hour to get him. "Chompers" is great. I donated my cichlids, but not before he killed a couple of them. He is a little over 20" long and I got him for a very reasonable fifty bucks. He is pretty inactive, like most lungfish, but goes up for air about every fifteen minutes. He is constantly kept with feeder fish. I have never seen him eat one, but he has gone through about twenty in a week and a half (must eat them at night). I do give him a couple nightcrawlers a day too. He would eat all day if you keep feeding him. All in all he is an absolutely amazing pet to own and really impressive to my guests. If you can find one, get one!!! :)

If you are lucky enough to have one or more of these great fish, enjoy them. I recently lost both of mine (they are in the picture above) and spent the past couple of weeks looking for replacements. I ended up driving 30 miles to get them. The cool part is when i was waiting in line at the pet shop everyone in line wanted to know what they were. Now I get to teach two more fish all about eating spiders
