We just brought home two spotted puffers, they are SO fun to watch. I feed them brine shrimp and bloodworms right off of a plastic
spoon. They will come up and eat right from the spoon. One is VERY friendly and the other is alittle shy. The other people that said that you MUST feed them a correct diet is right. Sometimes they will not touch a flake at all even if they are hungry. They do nip at the other fish a little, but most are either big enough to take care of themselves or fast enough to swim away. They hide when they feel like it, not to often. They do see you come up to the tank and usually will greet you. I think I have already spoiled them....they wait for that spoon! They are amazing fish! I have noticed that sometimes they have a gray belly and other times it's ALL white. I have NEVER seen them puff up tho...I guess they don't feel threatened in our tank! Good luck to all. PUFFER POWER...lol!

Hi i just wanted to say, everyone thought i was crazy. I have 2 marine tanks. One has 3 puffers, a dog face, a porcupine puffer, and a spiny box; and a volitan lion, a damsel, a snow flake eel, lots of live rock and lots of live sand, snails, and crabs. All get along great. The second one has ocean rider seahorses, a yellow tang, a clown fish, a molly, a coral banded shrimp, and 2 pepermint shrimp; also scarlet crabs, more live rock and sand. It's a 50 gallon hexagon. Anyways they all get along, so i believe it's the peronality of the fish you get. I feed mine twice a day, except the seahorses diet on sundays. All mine have great personalities and have been living together almost 2yrs. All eat frozn foods and are hand fed. So if you want something research it first, then go for it. www.wetwebmedia.com is great to learn from, and take your time and be patient, it's worth it.

I currently have two green spotted puffers ( Mr and Mrs puffpuff)and they are the best fish i have ever owned. The only problem is that they pick on my crayfish, but my crayfish is to big for them to hurt it. They are the best fish to watch, very picky on what they eat but as long as you feed them the proper diet they will be happy and healthy.

dont rely on regular fish flakes they will just starve to death. after a few puffers died i figured this out, i usually feed my puffers a diet of earthworms attached to a fish string. if the earthworm is not attached to a fish string the earthworm will bury itself in the bottom and die. so take care of your water, make sure you clean it religiously, and make sure they are fed correctly, and you;ll have a nice healthy puffer for years.

I own a green puffer named Powder Puff and because he nipped at my bala shark's fins, I had to place him in a ten gallon with my brother's fighting fish. The next day I saw him just floating at the top and his fins weren't moving, I thought that he was dead, so I brought him out and placed him on the counter. Then I saw something like a heart beating, so I quickly put him into his original tank. For a moment he floated at the top of the tank upside down, I saw his eyes looking around and when he realized he was in HIS tank, he flipped himself over and started swimming around the tank like nothing happened. The whole time he was in the other tank, all he was doing was playing dead, I almost flushed him down the toilet!

I bought a cute little green spotted puffer today and was so happy to see that he was adapting so well to his new tank right away. Unfortunately, when I looked a little closer I noticed he wasnt playing with my beautiful long tailed fancy goldfish, he was destroying his once perfectly flowing tail. He is only about half of the size of the goldfish but that dosent seem to make any difference to him. Had to put him in his own bowl and I'm sorry to say, he must go back to the store tomorrow. Should have researched his personality before bringing him home. Impulse buy, he is so cute!!
