These are difficult fish to keep and they are schooling fish and should be kept in numbers.  10 gallons is too small for them.  Is your tank a freshwater set up?  Very important to find out what environment that they came from.  If the petshop had them in brackish you will need to know the salinity so you arent shocking them.

They may occasionally eat at night, but they aren't a nocturnal species as far as I can determine... so it would just be an occasional happening.

One of the most beautiful fish displayed in a tank but a HUGE drawback! I don't know why many people claim that this fish is peaceful whereas in reality it is EXTREMELY aggressive! They keep nipping the fins of their tankmates & never get tired! They do this continuously which DOESN'T make them a peaceful community fish at all....

i know how you feel. I had a golden gourami who DOMINATED the tank, all of my fish recently ganged up on him and killed him.

I have a male and female green Scats, the make is approx 7 inches and the female approx 5 inches. They have been very easy to maintain and I find they love broccoli as a treat!! They are sociable and come to the top of the tank at feeding time!! I am looking at selling them if anyone is interested,

I would like to know how you got a male in the first place. I had 2 scats for 4 years and then they died even though they seam healthy. This was because they were egg bound. Without a male that's what happens. I had a 50 gallon breeder tank fresh water always with Magnesium (epsom salt) (T for every 4 gal) and fed them just flake food they were find that way. These fish (the body bio) is freshwater. They they just can live in the other water (males are very hard to find anywhere other than fresh water) so how i have tried to order one.... Sorry I want a young one.

Archerfish can be kept in freshwater. In their native waters, Archerfish have been found in pure freshwater, miles from the brackish estuaries. If they die in a freshwater tank it is mainly because they are fed an improper diet and not because of the water. They cannot survive on flake alone and need insects in their diet.

Thought you might be intersted to know that archer fish have been bred in Australia by a commercial fish farm, Ausyfish Pty Ltd, that's me. They were spawned with hormone. About 10,000 eggs hatched. They were a variety which is strictly freshwater!
here is some information that may be of interest.

I have 4 mono's and 3 columbian sharks in my 110 gal tank. We have had two monos for over a year and added two more a week ago. I've noticed one of my new monos have been getting picked on and he looks depressed, swimming at the top away from the others. How can I get them to all get along? Please help! I love all my fish but it's very sad to see this!

I don't know the answer but Animaol World has a Fish Symptons and Disease page wna dyou can scroll downto the symptoms and see what the symptoms are your fish. The recommended treatment is there. They have been doing fish for 30 years and pretty clear article and symptoms are clear. I just can't tell from what you are decribing. Click on article, it is attached and look for treatment. OK
