Great fish for the aquarium in every way except one: You need a tank at least a meter and a half for a school (90 gallons). Other than that, every good remark you've read about them is true, and they even tolerate hard water very nicely. My tank is not large enough, so I took my six clowns and paid my dentist with them (he has a tremendous tank). But I didn't make this deal before they gained some bulk and finished every Malasian burrowing snail in my tank!

I've been told that the clown loach are a good snail eater so if you have a snail problem get yourself some clown loaches.

I noticed said they will only reach 12 inches in the wild. I'm not sure how big they will get in the wild, but in my large aquarium (a 180 gallon acrylic to be precise) They will get to be 18 inches or more and weigh anywhere from 1-2lbs if you give them the chance.

very informative about the dojo/weather loach, a shame there were no photos/diagrams to help explain things like sexing for the amature.
i like the site though

Hello fellow clown loachers. These are the best fish. I once got one on its own but it died. I did the same thing and that one died too. Finally, after reading more about them, i bought 3 and they have been fine ever since! They dart around my tank and love brine shrimp! These little fish were the best choice i ever made!!

My three yo-yo loaches (i've had them for under 6 months) are already over 3" one is almost 5" so yes, they do get bigger than 2.5" and rarely they'll get to be over 8. 6" is more like their max size.

Great fish! Fun to watch. I thought they would be shy and hide most of the time, like most loaches. But they are quite lively actually. And a bit silly too. They tend to rest on their sides every now and often. Easy to keep, very happy fish if you refresh your water weekly (I change 50% of my water every saturday). Since they become increasingly rare in the wild, they cost some money. If you get them, take good care of them!
