Guppies are perfect for beginners and they are good for season veterins like myself. With their beauiful colors they are the perfect fish to brighten up a fish Tank. One thing to keep in mind though if you have too many guppies together in the same tank then they will nibble at each others tails. Baby guppies can hide in any plants but some are better than others. To prevent having your guppies die there are a couple of fish that you should not put in with the guppies. Some examples are all Barbs (like tiger barbs). i have personally caught my fathers tiger barb biting off parts of tails and pop eggs (from the one time that i had an egg from a nother fish).

I love platies! I have only two right now, in a 10 gal. tank, and they are both females. One of them is pregnant. I hope all goes well though because I am going to let her have them in the community tank, and although I have only one other fish, the frey are still at risk. I have had other platies, 2 male, which were the first that I started with. One of them died a few months later. The other was my favorite, and he also died about a month or so after the first one. During the so little time I had with my last male platy, I got him a friend, a female friend, and was he happy! She is still here, and now she has a new friend. :)

I have two platys in a 20 gallon tank along with 12 other fish. The platys will stay to themselves out in the open water and are great community fish. For fun they will chase each other around without nipping fins. They are very colorful and come in many different shapes and sizes. They should be kept in tanks with tempuratures between 72-78 degrese. They will eat everything such as flakes, tablets, and live, but I suggest flakes and maybe live as a treat. Overall I think platies are community fish that can be kept,in a tank with almost any other types of fish because they are so peaceful.

I think that mollies, platys and swordtails have very low defenses against mainly fungus and fungul parasetic diseases and proper precautions should be taken to prevent these diseases. This site gives valuable info. to novices in the fish hobby Strasser Sankar

Now im not here to get all all sentimental and mushy inside about the mollies but...i will tell you what i have...Well fellas....and gals.....I have a helluva combination in my 49 gallon tank I bought at Wal-Mart. So far I have bought 18-female-sailfin mollies for a whopping $40.00 A good price to pay on these is about $2.00 per fish. If you are paying more than that.....chances are you are getting ripped off so look around a bit........well anyways like i was saying...the tank looks really elegant with all these white sailfin mollies mixed in with BLACK angel fish....the contrast between black and white fish is really nice......

If u dont believe me....try it... =)

I like going to this site for answers to my livebearer questions.I own 4 swordtails,if you include the baby fry,1 large female guppie, and 30 of her fry.People say livebearers are only for beginners, but I like having fish that are easy to breed and tell apart.I could not imagine having a tank without atleast 2 livebearers.I would like to see more pictures or swordtail colors on this site.I enjoy seeing some of the vast color types! Thanks!

I am not sure what type of Mollies we have. We have a white one and a black one. We have determined that the white one is the female. She has had babies 3 times since this past July. The first two times there were 12 to 15. This last time we counted 24. It appears that she is now pregnant again. She had her last babies on 10/24/03.

I have 3 silver mollies and 4 black mollies... all the females seem to be pregnant -I am buying a net for them and we ll see what happens. I have acclimated them to be saltwater fish. I have not lost a one... they are all doing great... and they all seem to know when I m there they all swim to the front when I m there and to the top when I open the tank to drop food in... they are such piggies... I have 2 male (black) and the rest are all females so I could have my hands full and may need someone to take some of the fry when they are big enough...Petco or Walmart???
