Hey i have a regular molly. It has a huge problem, one of its eyes has been completely covered by a white substance. Also upon further review i saw that one of it gills has a medium sized gap (which is red). But it still eats and interacts with other fish and my other fish have been living with it for a pretty long time with out catching whatever it has. Thanks!

I have 2 male guppies. 1 yellow cobra and 1 red tuxedo. I am hoping to breed them in the future because they are so lovely. The males can nip each other, but it ends up fine. I recommend them.

I have 4 swordtails (listed as pineapple swords)in my 30gal long tank: two of each sex. The one male seems to be the "alpha male". This observation was made when watching the his activities as it appears he is trying to mate with one or both of the females. He would chase off the other male, while keeping the two females hurded.

What was very interesting to watch was what appeared to be a mating ritual dance preformed by the male. He would start from a stand still and dart forward about several inches, and just as quickly, do the same in reverse. He didn't turn around, but actually went straight back. He would go back and forth a couple of times... and then rest. I witnessed this behavior a couple of times.

Unfortunately, I don't know the temp of my tank, as I need to get a new one. However I had turned on the heater the other day, as it is getting much cooler in my apartment. I am thinking that the warming of the water has spawned this new activity. I do have some live plants, one which is probably over 3' in length (planted in a corner). I pushed this plant in at several places along its length to keep it from all floating along the top.

Hopefully this will give any fry produced a somewhat safe haven to hide while they grow.

I have a 20 gallon tank with guppies, and albino cory cats. Today I added 2 females and 1 male red swordtail to the tank. While I was introducing the fish to their new home, I noticed that the fish were going crazy eating something at the bottem of the bag. With a closer look I noticed 6 babies at the bottem of the bag. Now I do not know if the babies were caught in the net while buying the fish at the store, or did one of the females have the babies during transport from the store to my home. I bought 3 fish and put 9 in my tank! The babies are in a breeding tank doing very well, and are eating regular flake food that lays at the bottom of their tank. I guess I will need to get a bigger tank now!

We just decided to start breeding mollies. We bought 2 sailfin females, one ballon female, and one male ballon. I plan to let the ballon breed all the females. Wondering what they will look like. I have enjoyed them so far. I do believe at least two of them are pregnant and wondering if the third isn't as well. We think maybe we bought them that way, so we are expect LOTS of fry soon. I haven't decided if i am going to put them in a hatchery yet or not. I might not since i have 3 females that could have lots of fry and they are only in a 10gal. I do have a 2 gal to use as a hatchery if i have to until they get a little bigger. These are great and very active fish. My kids love to watch them. They will even follow your finger around on the glass. So cool!

me and my other half have been breeding mollies and platys for about 5 months now. with our two huge tanks, our beautiful dalmation mollies x4, black mollies x3, albino molly, and 5 platys, we've been blest with 46 babies! we had to give some to our family away as we ended up with too many.
we believe the key to a good survival rate is plenty of plants and caves!

I have kept platties for years and have kept blue, orange, red, and yellow varieties. I had recently purchased 1 male red and 1 female yellow platy, which went into a ten gallon with a pleco, cory catfish, 3 danios, and a rosy red minnow. They reproduced like crazy. Now the female has died, but has made 2 broods, so I have 2 juveniles, and 11 babiies, and the adult male. The cory has died. The babies are between yellow and pink and all have black tails and assorted black spots.

i just bought 6 guppies (3 males, 3 females) and 5 Danios and they are living in a 20 gallon tank. They seem to be getting along great. The funny thing is, one of my female guppies seems to think shes a danio. She chases them around all day and they chase her around too. She doesnt seem to pay any attention to her male companion so he's been trying to get with the other two females, even though they arent the same type. Another thing is that I have a tank that has a sort of mirror at the side and the males actually seem like they are admiring themselves in the mirror. I love it! They are very beautiful fish and i hope to get more if these ones live long. thanks for the wonderful site!

About 2 weeks ago i bought 3 mollies (1 siver molly, 1 black molly, and one dalmation molly). In about 20 minutes i noticed that the dalmation molly was hiding in a house that we have. Then for a week he only came out in the morning at 7:00. One day i started not seeing him so i thought he must be floating at the top of the house, but we found him dead behind a rock. He had very strange behavior.
