I have had several different Gouramis and think they are very hardy and beautiful fish. But, I have a very aggressive "killer" blue Gourami on my hands. Over the past year and half he has tormented and caused the death of at least 10 fish. At one time I had him in a separate tank, but it broke, so back he went with the other fish and in the past month has killed my Gold Gourami. Things seem to be okay for now, but I have several hiding places for all the other fish. He is very much the king of the tank.

I have two gold gouramis. I had them in a 10 gallon tank with my two goldfish and an African Dwarf Frog. They didnt chase any of them, but one of the gold gouramis got very territorial and started to beat up the other one to the point that i never saw it because it was to scared to come out! Anyway now i have them in a much bigger tank with an electric yellow cichlid and a brown knife. They dont bother each other anymore besides the ocasional chase and the one that was getting beat up so bad is now the one that is doing some of the chasing!! I just hope that all of the fish will do fine with the discus cichlid that im planning to get and im getting rid of the yellow cichlid because it is just too aggressive with all of the fish that i have. He even killed his mate!!!!

I have kept 2 Balloons for a few months already. I find them easy to keep and fairly low maintanence. These fish are very responsive and will often turn and look if someone passes close to the tank. They usually fight with each other over food.

my dad has had a giant gourami for the past 6 years and he is roughly 20" long even though he is a old fish he has still got a temper to match a young fish he will not let us put any other fish in with him. We had salmon tail sharks with him that were nearly as big as him and he even killed them. So if you plan on having one of these fish i advise anyone to give them their own tank. you could even put its tank near the tv, Moby (our gourami) loves watching the tv.

It seems the gold gourami are a bit agressive. I recently added 2 gold gourami to a 10 gallon tank that has 3 bala sharks and a nice size algae eater. One of the golds really bullied the other to the point of death, but it seems to be fine with the other fish at this point.

Whilst I think that the gold Gourami is a fine looking addition to my tank,I also think that they are world class bullies.
A recent addition has already hounded a female Dwarf Gourami to death.
Now it is busy chasing the male Dwarf, yet my other Gold Gourami ignores the Dwarf!
Be wary of mixing the two varieties.

I have 3 dojo loaches, 5 red eye tetra, 4 desert rainbow fish, 1 Australian rainbow fish, 2 blue gouramis, 2 guppies, and a sucker fish all in a 30 gallon tank. They all get along great. My gouramis are both males and are about 3 inches in length. They chase each other, but no harm is done.

I am a huge animal lover and they seem to love me but fish and I never got along. I tried goldfish several times but they died within a few days. My brother gave me his 10 gallon tank when he went away but I had to give it to my mother because the fish were dying. My brother came back this year and got a male betta. He told me they were rather easy to maintain so I thought I would give it a try. I now have three bettas, red, white, and blue. They have lived in my room for three months in 1 gallon vases, with rocks and plants. I had been told that bettas are not very active but that is not true with mine. Mine are extremely active, in fact I hardly ever see them rest. My red betta loves to blow bubbles and the blue and white betta actually do syncronized swimming "monkey see monkey do." My brother tends to be jealous because his betta never does anything. If I can take care of bettas anyone can.

I have thirty gallon aquarium in which I have many assorted fish and amongst those are two fairly small pink kissing gouramis. The two kissing gouramis are very peaceful and fun to watch. One likes to "kiss" or rather suck on every glass surface, heater, or pebble it sees while the other just appears to be kissing the water. I highly recommend this fish for larger peaceful aquariums.
