i have a 3ft by 1.5 x 1ft tank and my yellow gourami chases my bluey one around the tank, the blue one hides behind the fluvo filter ...it must just be an agressive spieces or something

I have thirty gallon aquarium in which I have many assorted fish and amongst those are two fairly small pink kissing gouramis. The two kissing gouramis are very peaceful and fun to watch. One likes to "kiss" or rather suck on every glass surface, heater, or pebble it sees while the other just appears to be kissing the water. I highly recommend this fish for larger peaceful aquariums.

As with all gouramis whose mature size is around 4 inches- it is unwise to mix with the dwarf varieties. I have had horrible experiences with a homicidal gold gourami- who mauled and killed a neon dwarf gourami. Anything that is smaller, weaker, or in the wrong place at the wrong time is a potential target. In their defense they are beautiful and can be tamed. The ideal setting in my opinon for these fish is a 30+ gallon tank with one gold gourami, one pearl gourami, one opaline/blue/3 spot gourami, 3 LARGE bronze corys, and lots of hiding spaces. I have heard that the females are less tempermental but you may want to confirm that with another source. Also- if you have a good fish dealer- they will be able to inform you which fish have a tendency towards violence and which seem to be calm.

I found out that female bettas can be colourful too. When i was breeding a pair, i saw and recognised the more colourful one as the female! It was a surprise for me and know i know that not only males can be colourful.

I bought a male to replace one that died. My daughter was very upset over the whole situation. She made the mistake of thinking the cat would ignore her fish same as her first cat. I was attracted to a very battered red male (he is missing the top half of his tail fin and one eye is damaged). His name is Maximus (The Gladiator).He has brought me many hours of entertainment. He flares for the ladies and would kill the other male or die trying if he could only get to him! My daughter ended up going out and replacing her fish as none from here ever made it there. The cat went back to the pound.

Fighting fish is a great breed for they are very entertaining in accordance to their looks, needs, strength, and great empowerment from themselves. i sometimes spend leisure time taking care of them and i see some of my friends made their fish fight for another mate in which we like and enjoy at all...

Kissing Gourami are very fun but be sure to have a larger tank for them...50 gal should be great to reduce chances of aggression towards other fish.

I have a gold gourami, moonlight gourami and powder blue gourami (a variant of the dwarf neon) in with a ghost knife, fire eel, and needlefish, among a few others. I feed the latter mentioned fish, which are all in their late juvenile stages, feeders and earthworms and the gold gourami is very aggressive at feeding time. He will eat both the feeders and worms, enhaling the worms as soon as they hit the water; this fish is more carnivorous than omnivorous! He is also aggressive towards the powder blue, but no others. He may be the exception, but beware!

I noticed a lot of comments on the male flame gouramis being agressive and I would put my lot there also. However, it has only been against the two goldfish that we have.
