I recently got a beta...had not had one since I was a kid. The past couple of days I was trying to conserve oil while I was waiting for an oil delivery and I had the heat set at 55 degrees. I noticed my fish was not moving around like usual although he was still eating. My oil came today and I put the heat back up to 70 degrees and he perked right up. Then I realized that it was the cold that was bothering him. So I looked at some sites and I see that they prefer warmer water.

I have 3 opaline Gouramis, a platy, 4 tiger barbs, 4 catfish, 3 guppies and 2 Zebra danios. The two bigger ones tried to attack the smaller one. The biggest one attacked the smaller one on the tail so the smaller one cannot swim with its tail because its tail is bent. it has to swim with its fins. When I feed the food it cannot even come to the surface to eat, so it had been starving for 2 days. my father decided to change it into an empty tank, then he (my father)can feed the small opline Gourami. I hope it will be better in a few days.

I own a gorgeous multi-coloured male betta named Malachi (mal-ah-kai). He is my first betta and is very lovely with his red, blue, purple and green colours. Whenever I get home and go to his tank he will swim up and happily greet me. The very funny thing about Malachi is that whenever I hold up a mirror in front of him he never puffs up. The reason for the mirror technique was to make him think there is another male betta invading his territory, therefore tries to ward it off by puffing up (which is also good exercise for any betta). Recently I got Malachi a female companion named Hadassa so they may breed. She is a pearly white betta with yellow lining on her fins.

I recently added two gold gouramis to a tank where my kissing gouramis have been bullying all my new additions to death within hours. Not only did my golds hold their own, but the kissing gouramis have backed off on being so aggressive. Now I have 2 gold, 2 opaline and 2 kissing, and they all seem to be able to coexist with the other tank dwellers- 2 silver dollars, 2 rosy platys, 2 giant danios, bala shark, red fin shark and a pleco. Oh, and one annoying little tiger barb who refuses to die.

My two gourami grew real fast and big in my small fish pond. In two years they grew from about 4 ins to more than 12 inches. They are really sociable and live harmoniously with the many ordinary koi fish and flower horns. I added another two small ones, and like wise they grew to the same sizes. They like the koi pellets, and occasionally I saw them jumping and nipping at leaves located just above the water.

I have a blue gourami in a 10 gallon tank with a yoyo loach, a glass fish, a black tetra, two platies and one swordfish. I have had them all together with no problems for the past month and a half. The blue gourami is growing bigger now. In the past two days it has attacked and killed both of my platies who were at least half its size. It chases the swordfish, but I have put in extra hiding places and it seems to be okay. The black tetra is the same size as the blue gourami, but the blue gourami still chases the tetra. The tetra is a lot faster than the gourami though. I will not be putting any more small fish in the same tank as the gourami.

I am a huge fish lover and about a month ago i got my first betta. He is a beautiful red male with long fins. When i come into the room, my betta notices and starts swimming around happpily. Bettas are probably one of the best fish to have. They dont eat much, require not too much space and are beautiful!
