I have been playing musical tanks with my fish to find the right combinations. I have 8 neon tetras, 6 black skirt tetras, a black phantom tetra, 4 platies, 5 mollies (plus one baby that hid when I got rid of the rest), a betta, and a blue gourami. In addition I sort of breed snails. Knowing I have to watch what I put the gourami with is why I am playing musical tanks. He gets along fine with the mollies and the platies, but chases the tetras. I am leery of putting the betta and gourami together. So I had the gourami with the platies and all the snails in one tank. But I just found out that the gourami nips at my snails tentacles, and I just can not have that. So now he is in with no snails, the 4 platies and my neons. Seems to do ok with the neons because if he gets close to them, they are faster and go to the other side of the tank. As he gets bigger, I will be taking all the small fish out of his tank. But beautiful fish, and I can not wait till he is full grown :)

We have a Kissing Gourami that we have had for 16 years, he likes to be alone from other fish and recognizes us on sight. He gets mad and splashes if we do not feed him immediately. He about 5-6 inches long and we purchased him for our daughter when she was 15, she is now 31. He has been very enjoyable.

I have 2 blue gouramis 4 inches long, they are agressive and have to be kept seperate from my other aquarium. I believe i have a male and female breeding pair from the difference in dorsal fins and coloration. they do a wierd dance when together that i can only describe as courtship. so far no egg bubbles.

I had a pair of Dwarf Powder-Blues and they really were my favorites. They played a little game every day for their supper. I would walk up and say hi and they would come right over to me and blow bubbles at me and generally act adorable under my noise for a few minutes. They seemed very smart and always friendly and they got along together pretty well, although I find most fish get a little cranky as they age. It was so difficult to have these guys reach their life expectancies that I never got Dwarf Powder-Blues again, but I still think of them very fondly and remember them. Great fish, very special.

i have one of these comical fish he is over 26" and no problem with small fish even tetra. i have had him over 20 years and he was 12" when i got him. he loves lettuce, cucumber, grapes, etc, etc, and will eat whole prawn in the shell. he loves attacking you but it is all show. they are soft and very inteligent. i tried to put him in a large pool in my conservatory, he did not settle so moved him back into his tank. his name his derek although he is a she. would not recommend for beginners to keep them due to size and very long life.

Bettas are one of my favorite fish!! I am a huge animal lover, especially fish! I have a 30 gallon goldfish aquarium, and 2 one gallon betta tanks. The tanks have a clear divider in the middle, so you can have one one each side and watch them flare and freak out when they see each other!! I named them all from song lyrics/titles from my favorite band, Aerosmith. I have two blue ones(Baby Blue, Beelzebub), a white one with red fins(Kitty), and a purple one(Sweet Emotion). They are very easy to take care of, and they get so excited when I come into the room! I reccomend bettas to anybody who is a beginner and for any fish or animal lover out there!!
