The Betta is my personal favorite. I keep my bettas in one gallon aquariums. One thing you should know is that you should clean their tanks or jars every three days, especially if the tank is small.

i have 2 opaline gouramis, a male betta, 2 tiger barbs, and a plecotomus and they all get along great. once in a while my betta chases my gouramis, but so far i havent had any problem at all with my gouramis being "aggressive". they are very fascinating fish.

I got my first betta a couple of months ago, and for christmas i got a tank with a divider. Yesterday I got another betta. He is a beautiful, blue with red bits on his fins. I called him Whinfred. I like watching them flare at each other. Bettas are a really good fish and if you want a fish get a betta.

I just got my first larger size aquarium, ten gallons, and I put a Red tail shark, a guppie, and two black skirt tetras into the tank. After my shark decided to commit suicide, there was a small opening near the filter he jumped out of (oops!), I went and got a Blue Gourami and a plecko. At first everything was fine and dandy but then I came home one day and the Gourami had killed the two tetras. The guppie seems to be ok though. I think its best to keep the Gouramis away from the little guys.

I keep my snakeskin gourami in a large community tank filled with congo tetras, scissortails, corydoras cats and kribs. She gets on very well with everyone, though she occasionally picks fights with the male congo tetras and the kribs, but has never won despite being much bigger than every fish in the tank. One problem i did have with her was that she would kill any pearl gouramis i put in the tank, there was loads of plants and other places to hide, but she would seek out the pearl gouramis and chase them non-stop until they were dead.
Two things i like most about the snakeskin gourami is that they grow big, (but not so big that you need a huge tank, like the 2ft giant gourami)and also that not many people seem to have them. Most of the fishkeepers i know had not seen or heard of them, and they are not in many books.

Kissing Gouramis are very cool fish. I mean, they are so fun to look at, and laugh at because of their kissing action. I have even seen them kiss each other. Everyone should love these fish. I know I do.

I recently got a beta...had not had one since I was a kid. The past couple of days I was trying to conserve oil while I was waiting for an oil delivery and I had the heat set at 55 degrees. I noticed my fish was not moving around like usual although he was still eating. My oil came today and I put the heat back up to 70 degrees and he perked right up. Then I realized that it was the cold that was bothering him. So I looked at some sites and I see that they prefer warmer water.

I have 3 opaline Gouramis, a platy, 4 tiger barbs, 4 catfish, 3 guppies and 2 Zebra danios. The two bigger ones tried to attack the smaller one. The biggest one attacked the smaller one on the tail so the smaller one cannot swim with its tail because its tail is bent. it has to swim with its fins. When I feed the food it cannot even come to the surface to eat, so it had been starving for 2 days. my father decided to change it into an empty tank, then he (my father)can feed the small opline Gourami. I hope it will be better in a few days.
