My pet Gourami is Marina. She is 13 inches and still growing. She is in a 120 gal tank with a Jack Dempsey, 3 moonlight gouramis, 3 goldfish and a few tiny African Cichlids. I have never missed any of her tiny tankmates. I feed her Select Cut Dog Food (one piece at a time, no gravy) otherwise she'll eat me out of house and home. This is a great fish. I recommend it if you have a large tank and a sense of humor.

My mom had a giant gourami. His name is Bandit. I bought him from Wal-Mart when he was only 3" long and we had him over a year till he was 11" long. We had so much fun with him. We finally had to give him up because he was just too big and a handful for my mom. We tried to feed him lettuce for the first time and he instantly loved it. He also loved pieces of ground cooked chicken. Sometimes I would play with him by wiggling my finger in front of his tank and he would try to attack it and at the same time his tail would go and cause a tidal wave to go over the tank and make a big mess. One time I tried to do that while my mom was near it, but unfortunately he wouldn't do it, Darn it. We do miss him a lot, my mom more so because he was her fish. He is at the Petco store in our local area and in a huge tank where it is better for him. According to my mom who visits him, he is homesick. I told her it is for the best.

I have 2 Honey Gouramis in a 20 gallon tank, and I really enjoy them! Mine are very peaceful and do not bother any of my other fish (I have 15 other fish: various tetras, barbs, and a pleco.) The only thing that I have noticed is that they don't seem to eat. My tetras are such aggressive eaters that the food is usually gone by the time the gouramis even realized it was there. Other than that, the two are always playing with one another and following each other around. Great fish to have in a community aquarium.

I am a proud owner of several fish that people said would not go along together, but so far so good! My 5 different Gouramis are some of my fish that no one said could be peaceful, but I thought in a large tank and enough hiding spots they might work. Its been 5 months and they have been great. They have quite a personality and they are so beautiful! Thank you to Animal-World with all your pages of information on fish, it has helped many people I know.!

I have 2 bettas, their names are Dave and Rainbow Jimmie. They really are the prettiest fish around. Dave is a handsome red color and Rainbow Jimmie is, well, a rainbow.

I've had my gold gourami for three years and he just seems to keep getting bigger, he's almost at six inches now. I have him in a tank with a fully grown redtail shark. This is a crazy move in principle, however the gourami seems to enjoy being chased occasionally. He sees the shark and swims straight over to him. Sometimes they just sit with each other and other times after the gourami has touched the shark up a bit with his feelers the chase is on. Feeding time is always action packed, the gourami is so veracious he just continues to eat and ignores the sharks charge.

No fish has ever attacked my one-and-only Pearl since the first day. He was shy at first, probably for four days. Now, he is all over my 60 gal tank frolicking with the rest, and always one of the first in line for food. He had a strange quality about him at first, until I got used to looking at him. He is not my favorite fish, however. I love my Red Flames and Powdered Blues, especially when they do their pseudo-wardance.

I purchased three medium sized blue gouramis yesterday and placed them in a 55 gallon tank with two red velvets, two golden molly's, two fairly large bala sharks, three medium sized black angel fish, three bleeding hearts, and 9 various tetras. The guy at the pet store told me that the gourami's would do great in the tank...well he is right! They went NUTS when I walked by the tank and almost came out of the water! They are very aggressive fish. Mine are tending to stay behind my plants and leaving the others alone. EXCEPT...one of my tiger barbs is dying as I type. He has been beaten up pretty bad and I am trying to do everything possible for him! The gourami's may be finding a new home...back at the pet store!
