I just really started getting into buying fish for my 50 gallon tank and i got a few dwarf gourami and they dont hide at all. they just see their reflection on the side of the tank and follow it up and down all day. the hair like fins on the bottom of the fish will point strait out and touch other fish as if they are curious of other tank mates, like my red bellied pacus. the dwarf gourami are very colorful and bring alot of life to the tank for such small fish.

I just got a 10 gallon fish tank not long ago and i have 3 small tiger barbs, 2 guppies (male&female), 2 rosy barbs, & 2 emerald green corys. today i rescued a medium sized blue gourami from a large tank, that was getting beaten up and its tail almost nipped away! poor thing! even though everyone says these fish are so aggressive it seems like this one isnt at all (just from today)! it hasnt really bothered with any of the other small fish and they seem to be getting along great. i hope it continues to be like this! (maybe the gourami learned his lesson)

I have four pearl gouramis and at first they hid whenever you looked at them. Then after a while they got used to the tank and swam around exploring everywhere and were always the first for food. Then I Bought a golden Severum and since them the two males always hide and the females sort of do. i think the severum bullies them a bit and they are scared of him

I have two male dwarf gouramis, when i first introduced them to the tank they immediately dove behind a small patch of fake grass. dwarf gouramis although they are around 1 to 2 inches in length are extremely shy. For the first two/three days, they refused to come out and eat. If, like me, you have other fish such as guppies for example that happens to start eating as soon as you shake food in there, pinch a small amount of fish food ( depending on how many you own) and dip it in the water after two second let the food sink from your fingers, the gouramis will start to notice the food and eat, keep doing this at a regular time (every morning as soon as i wake up) and the gourami will start to get bolder. like my own, one became so bold that everytime i dip my finger in, it thinks it's food! Although, do be careful, one of my males is still very shy everytime he comes out to eat the other starts pecking at him.

This is the best fish ever, I had all different kinds of fish but no fish is good as betta. This is to betta lovers. I have 10 bettas in a 20 gallon tank. 5 females and yes 5 males. Secret is keep large number of bettas in a small tank to keep them from fighting. First time when I put them together when I did experiment they were chasing and fighting but not for long because there are 5 males and there is not enough space for them to claim as their territory. They dont fight anymore only flare at each other when they pass by. I got this idea from the local pet shop where they kept 10 male bettas in a 10 gallon aquarium. Yes this is a risk but if it works you will be enjoying your hobby.

Best fish ever. I have a blue male and two females. they get along pretty good except sometimes male would chase one of the females. I keep them in a 20 gallon tank. I am thinking of adding another male.

I have 2 opalines, 2 blue paradise, and 1 dwarf ( all of them being gouramis.) So I had a 10 gal. tank with all 5 of these fish. BAD IDEA! Do not do so. My opalines are the youngest and are sometimes harrassed by older fish. I suggest atleast a 20 gal. ALso, don't put smaller fish with the ones i have just listed. Bad idea.

I had a pet osperomus gourami. He was gray in color with darker gray stripes. He had so much personality like a cat or dog. He would bang the top of the aquarium when he wanted attention. He would copy my movements by alternating his fins when I alternated my arms, when I switched to moving both at the same time, he would too! He ate pellet food, for treats he would eat fresh stringbeans, and I would give him the freeze dried shrip. He was such a great pet!

I had to give him up when I moved. He was about 2 feet long in a 45 high. The poor thing pouted for 2 months. The man was a biology teacher at a highschool. Sadly, he did not maintain the tank properly, or my pet's diet. My pet passed away a year later. I had cried tears over him when I gave him up and when he passed. He was 10 years old at the time of his death and was still growing. I loved that fella!
