I have a 60 litre (13 gallons) tank and I have 5 fantails. Is this too small for them? They seem to be very happy and active, also very friendly! But after a little scare the other day (old tank cracked and leaked while I was at work, got to them in time. There was still water in the tank so put em in a washing up bowl temporarily and a bloody door later hit the bowl and they all fell out, again luckily I got to them in time and after a sleepless night they all seem fine 3 days later) After all this I just want to ensure I'm doing things correctly. I feed them flakes 3 times a day, use a 600 litre an hour filter and I have bubbles in the tank to provide oxygen in the water. Then the usual plants and items to mentally stimulate the fish. If anyone can give advice that would be fantastic. Thank you.

I bought a fantail Goldfish probably a month ago (named Trey) and it's been in it's own 6 gallon tank for a month at least. Today my best friend bought a fantail Goldfish (name undecided lol) She bought it to put with my fish and we put them together in the tank today well (Trey) started to chase the new fantail around the tank for awhile and I thought that they weren't going to get along so we started to clean an old tank to put the new fantail in, but Trey isn't chasing the new fish around anymore.. Are they going to get along? And also is my tank big enough for the both of them?

When I first got my Fantail Goldfish, I read to them. The goldfish were still in the bag. Strangly, my fish were looking at me like they were listening!! :)

Hello Mike. I loved reading your comment about your Fantail fish, that they really did seem to listen to you when you read to them. Yes, I totally agree with you, I have two fantail fish, for 5 years now, & they know me. When I have visitors they swim away & hide, & every time I come indoors they swim forward to greet me at the front of the tank. Their names are Dori & Nemo`s Dad. They are lovely company & I watch them for hours.

My fantails have been through a lot. Especially dotty. All her boyfriends died. She has moved house three times. She tried to have babies. She always gets poorly. She gets bullied by my other fantail, oscar. The amazing thing is that she's approaching five years old! She's massive. She always sleeps at the top of the water surface. Does that mean her time is coming? If so, how will this affect oscar?

My two Fan Tail Gold Fish constantly swim at the top of the tank, & I am worried that they can not breathe properly. Is there anything that I can do for them. I have filters in the tank & Oxygen filters, two big ones, they are five years old.

I got two fantails a long while ago and they where called tango and fanta both with and orange spots :) sadly tango died and we replaced them with a large white orange and black one called poppy, then we got a small one called fanny (i know, i think my dad was drunk when naming this one hehee ) but the other two bullied her so she was removed and died. I suppose she was injured or lonely. ): but we still have fanta and poppy :d

i bought two fantails last month and they're so cute! they're only 2.5 cm long. one's orange all over and the other is spotted black and orange.
still not named them yet, but they love their new tank with 6 sides and roman pillars. Hopefully going to get another two and see if they win the best fish and fish tank competition. wish me luck!

I have recently bought two fantail goldfish. I've had them for about 5 weeks now but 2 and a half weeks ago one sadly passed away. The other has been staring into his/her reflection ever since. I am wondering if someone could help me solve the reason why he/she is doing this. I Thought maybe it was because it was lonely. SO I wonder if I should I buy another fantail goldfish now, or wait until the other has finally come back to normal.

If I keep my fantail in a small goldfish bowl with no heating or filtration, but clean it regularily, what will its life span be? I want to have a very healthy and long living fish but not sure if this will be ok. The bowl has littl erocks at the bottom and a castle type structure for him to hide.

I brought my two fantails yesterday and they are very young and a very small, about an inch long, so I brought a small tank (with no heating or a filter) for the time being, about 35cm length and 15 cm width. So I think your fantail be ok cos mine are!
I think the life span is about 5 years.

Hey, I have one orange fantail goldfish. I have it now for more than 3 years. I got it from some chinese guy, but I wanna get those more. I went to different pet places but they don't have fantails up there. Can any one tell me where I can get these fantails for very good price?

Pro - aquatics. Around £4. A good selection. I got my two fantails from there, Cookie and Melt. They also sell good tanks.
