I never thought I would be into fish but when I saw the bubble-eye I fell in love. They are the funniest little fishies, who would have thought that fish could be so entertaining? I could watch their swimming style and the way they rub their little bubbly cheeks against each other every now and then, for hours on end.
I think it is really cool that their eyes are at the front of their face and that they can look straight out at you from the tank.

These fish have personality plus. I have two and they are called Cherry (short for Cherub) and Cooky, because he is. Cooky is cool because he swims upside down in the tank scanning the gravel... Amazing!!

Beng a beginner with aqariums,I purchased a Ryukin,and a Fantail.
I had no idea how fast these fish would grow!!!
I had originally placed each sepeately in 2 gallon tanks.Within weeks both were growing too fast and are now together in a 10 gallon aquarium.
I love them both and wish to breed them eventually.
Thanks for all the helpful info this site offered.
Jill

My poor fish got one of his sacs sucked into the filter. it is now completely gone. I am assumming that they do not grow back. It is possible for the fish to survive with only one sac and no dorsel fin.

My goldfish "Bubbles" has become "Bubble" I came home one day and
discovered one of his sacks stuck in the filter. The bubble has
periodically grown back but it keeps deflating. That is a great idea to put some nylon around the filter end and I am putting it on today!
The poor guy would really look bad if he lost the other:(

I recently purchased a black moor from a local petstore, for a science project. It is a sort of thing where you bring it to school and you have to make it survive for ten days! My black moor (Dudley) is very cooperative and lively, unlike the betta which my friend purchased.I love Dudley, he is adorable and he is always swimming around happily! I enjoy keeping him and plan to buy a few more in the near future!

My goldfish, Poko, is 11 years old and over 10 inches long. He is a really cool fish (although I am not sure if Poko is a he or a she, but I have always assumed it is a he). A while back he started getting a growth on his eye, and it keeps getting bigger. He will bump it on something every once and a while and it will fall off, but it will grow back, even bigger. I think it is some sort of tumor or something, but I have not found anyone who knows what it is for sure. I have tried different medications, and it will seem to get a little better at first, but it stops working after a while. A read in one book that things like this would need to be surgically removed... But I do not know anyone who would perform surgery on a fish!
