I would like to know how to tell the sex of my 3 Tin foil barbs. Also someone stated that if someone had photos of tinfoil barbs showing their red fins and tail to post them but not sure how to post them here.

There are really no tell tale visual differences between the male and female. You will just have to wait and see what happens. To post just click and follow the directions

I have two in my 30 gallon tank with my guppies. They are really good they don't even try to eat the babies. They chase each other. One has a strip on both sides going from head to tail and the other one doesn't.

I had the opposite problem my giant danio was chasing my roseline shark so I got two more roseline sharks and now all of my danios and roseline sharks swim together. I dont know if that helps but it worked for me :)

You can also try re-arranging the tank to force the barb to find a ne territory. Both of those fish should really be in a school.

Tigers are safe with long finned fish once they are used to their surroundings and are in a large group. This will give them something else to do rather than nip other fish.

I used to have a school of five tigers. But I don't seem to be able to keep a good school, because I always end up with just one left! He's about 2 years old, and is terrorizing my other fish with his fin nipping. I would give him away, but I don't know any healthy tanks with a school of tigers :( He's all alone in my 38g and I don't know what to do with the poor little guy. He's getting a bad rep because he's being a little devil to the other fish. And he's such a beautifully coloured fish, it a sin.

Something is wrong beacuse I have a school of five and they live in a 5 gallon tank. And they live with guppies. There are three and the don't fight or nip. Those kind of fish are nippier. They like to nip long tail of fish and they are aggrisive. Go to you tube and put mad tiger barbs fighting. That is thier behavor.

Maybe try to get some larger Tiger Barbs and add to tank to see if they will dominate this guy. Some fish just have bad attitudes. Worth a try.

Love that fish, have 8 in a 29g heavily planted tank together with odessa barbs and a red-fin shark.
Very active, always on the move, swim mostly at top-middle, enjoy swimming against the current from the pump. They do not seem to be as shy as the article describes - even though barbs try to chase glow-lights once in a while, danios easily outrun them and continue to swim as normal. Sometimes i can see danios "fighting" with each other - circling around, trying to get the opponents tale, but no harm is done. I believe it is a part of courtship.
I bought mine for as little as $3 per fish, though very few stores carry them.

Very cool. I have a fish tank with just 3 small zebra danios right now. Feel free to check out the live stream of my fish tank. If the stream is black, it's because its night time here, try back M-F 7am -7pm.

I am hoping to add a Giant Danio or 2.

The only thing I can find is that frequently the Tiger Barb fish will lose color and become lethargic if stressed. I would read the article on Animal World Fish Diseases and Symptoms. Your Tiger Barb (per you) seems fine after eating. Various articles say to spread food around so all Tiger Barbs get enough to eat. Is it the smallest one? If I get hungary - I am not fit to live with - I would do some more research though and Animal World is a great place o start.

It is stress... Watch your tank for a bit. See if that fish is getting picked on by another. My smallest green tiger barb was almost white. After I put him in a breeder tank for 72 hrs he came back to fully green color. She still gets picked on by Striker but he knows better than to swim next to him all day long now.

I bought 2 of these over the last few yrs. One I kept in my 30 gal with a goldfish that was HUGE! So Tigger did great with this fish because the goldy would get mean and tigger just sucked on him a bit to tell him he wasn't afraid. Tigger now lives with my mom and here is the big shocker -- He is in a 20 gal with guppies and other peacefuls but NEVER attacks. He is the sweetest funniest fish ever who plays with moms cats. Now the 2nd one I bought as it got bigger attacked a cat fish and that was it... I found him a home. But Tigger is still the best I've seen and a rarety. He seems happy in his 20 gal. I had sent him to mom to protect him from the ever growing goldfish till it found a new home. Tigger was too big to catch after that and so will stay at moms till he dies or gets aggressive, but still at nearly 9 in he is sweet.
