These beautiful, unusual, fish are very hardy and tough survivors in stressful situations.
That DOES NOT mean though that you may place them in a tank and forget about it.
Beautiful and great to hand-feed, Tinfoil barbs are so entertaining to watch, actually intensify their brilliant red colors as they mature while other fish usually lose their color, and are easy to care for. I currently keep three Tinfoil barbs along with four Severums cichlids and one Striped River catfish in a 55 gallon.
I got my barbs from a relative and they were only about 2-3 inches. After about a year they are at least 6 inches and are so pretty in the tank with their contrasting silver coloration.
Feed these fish variety, high quality flakes, shrimp pellets, freeze dried food and others. Tinfoil barbs are very easy to care for as long as the owner provides a decent tank size and keeps up with many water changes.
If you have a large tank of at least 55 gallons, get around three of these silver beauties. They are very worth having around in your tank.

Bala shark was one of my first fishes. It is a very peaceful fish. I would advise it to anyone new in this wonderful hobby. It has the apperance of a shark but that is all. It can be stressed easily though.

I have a Chinese Algae Eater in my tank. He is cute and fun to watch! So far he hasnt climbed out even though there is a space big enough for him to try! He keeps the tank sparkling clean, and doesnt really bother with my other fish and they dont bother him either. (I have tiger barbs, gouramis, and a lg. angel).

The picture on this site does not do this fish justice!! I have 2 of them and they are absolutely beautiful....like green jewels. I also have 2 "regular" tiger barbs and when I added the green ones to the tank, they instantly took to each other and began schooling together. PS...I also have a large Angel, 4 pink kissing gouramis, and 2 blue gouramis. Tiger Barbs dont really bug the other fish as long as they have friends of their own kind and lots of plants :)

The chinese algae eater will stop eating algae but eat old fish flakes at the bottom of your tank when older and will start gaining weight and slowing it down.

Tiger barbs are my favorite fish. They are very colorful. I had 5 white clouds with 4 tiger barbs and 3 alibino barbs. They were peaceful with each other. On the other hand, I had 3 danios, and 2 died mysteriously. Now I have 6 tiger barbs and 5 serpae tetras. I feed them flake food everyday and shrimp as a treat.

I have never had a problem with the algae eater actually crawling out of the tank, however it did eat my ghost shrimp, kill my neons, and then kill another rather large fish. I have no clue how this little guy has killed my fish. I am down to two fish, and the eater, and I am worried to buy more. I would not recommend this guy if you are rather attached to your fish. I hear they are either extremely good, or extremely bad. Watch out for these guys!

I have one and he is the most fun to watch. if you get one you should feed it par-boiled vegtables like lettuce and cucumbers. They will eat them all day long and they will also eat the algae when they get bored with the vegtables.
