What I thought was a peaceful fish was swimming around my tank yesterday with a little rummy-nosed tetra in his mouth!!! These fish are great, and fast!!! and remember to keep a lid on thier tank otherwise you will find out how high they can jump! Im hoping the little fish incident was a one off!

Thanks y'all. I just purchased a Chinese Algae Eater along with 4 goldfish for my pond. My pond is about 3' around and is made of concrete.

I released the fish in the pond yesterday but I couldn't find my Chinese Algae Eater (Hop Sing) today. I was worried because a turtle was in the pond. He's gone now but I thought he ate Hop Sing. But y'all make me feel better because I do have a cave in the pond and I did see Hop Sing going in and out of it yesterday. So I'm confident he's in there. He'll probably come out tonight. :)

Yes, I just got rid of mine last night because it was eating my shark. Actually it was on my shark's back and eating him, yelk. They are pretty aggressive. I went to the fish store to find out what I can do and they said it could be because I have no Algae at all and to put some Algae wafers in the tank. I did but it didn't work, it almost killed my shark. Thanks

I have a bala shark that loves my 3 discus, 2 swordtails, 3 corys, pleco, kissing gourami, and frog. I called him Jason. he is about three inches long and eats almost anything. I got him at Christmas.

I have 2 sucking loaches, one i have had for 2 weeks and the other 2 monthes. My fish are nocturnal only coming out in the night where they feed on the algae. They love being in the castle and are peaceful to my other fish. But they are not friendly to each other.

We have had our bala shark for 5 years and it is now 11 inches long. He lives in a 135 gallon tank. He dominates this tank which has a few friends like the algae eaters, the tiger barbs, the wide mouth shark which is also 11 inches long. There are also a couple of ciclids and a parrot fish. The bala does get spooked very easily and sometimes hits the ends of the tank back and forth. Once, he even jumped out of the tank. Very entertaining to watch. Glad we have him.

We have three tiger barbs in our 55 gallon aquarium. We did have 4, but one was a little bit smaller than the mouth of our knife fish. They are definately one of my favorites. They try to attack your hands while your cleaning out the tank and if you get one it is a good idea to get more than 1 because they will attack your other fish if they dont have partners.

I have had my tinfoil barbs for about a year now and they have quickly grown out of my three foot tank to my bigger four foot tank with a big pleco, angelic catfish, a big leprinus, black ghost knife fish, a large polypterus, a lemon-fin barb and a silver shark. both of my tinfoil barbs get on well with my other fish Except for feeding time, when they all get alittle bit tense over getting all of the food for them self. I feed my tinfoil barbs flake, bloodworm and cokkles with some live food every now and then. I dont tend to put plants in any more because every time I do they rip them out and eat them. so I just stick with bogwood and rocks. You have to be carful when you have the lid off of your tank because the tinfoil barbs jump, which I have experienced a few times before. I will be getting another tinfoil barb soon because you really need to keep them in a school rather then singly.

I have had a single cherry barb in a gallon tank for 4 years, and she has done amazingly well. She originally came from Walgreens in a tiny tank with a snail and plant. I did not know what kind of fish she was until recently. She has done so well in her upgraded tank, with amazon sword plants and a nice rock. I do not know the life expectancy of this fish, but I am sure she will live to old age if she has not already.
