My Texans are now on their second batch of fry. I rescued about 50 from the first batch and they are doing fine in other tanks. The second batch has been left in the tank with the parents. They take them out on "walks" every day and dote on them. The tank is full of other cichlids but they are nowhere to be found. They hide in the rocks and bushes until I throw in some food. Then they dart out and commence the feeding frenzy. The Texans have all their tank mates completely dominated. Its been two weeks and the fry are still there. Im guessing that in a few weeks they will mostly be gone unless they can find a place to hide in the bushes as well.

I had recently purchased three Electric Yellow Cichlids, (2 inches), two Albino Oscars, (1.5 inches), and a pleco (3 inches). After reading how peaceful the "Yellows" were supposed to be, and being told that because they are the same size as the Oscars, they would all be fine in the tank (29 Gal.). Well, not true... my "Yellows" managed to kill one Oscar, and totally de-fin the other....which I am about to have mercy on the poor fella.... So beware, sometimes the most aggressive fish, become victim of the so called peaceful fish.

I absolutly love angelfish, they are absolutly amazing, I have 4 of them now, 2 young ones about the size of a nickle which I recently got. One is a silver veiltail, and the other is a blushing. My 2 other ones are the size of silver dollars, one is a black one and the other is a golden. They are really funny to watch especially when it is feeding time. They all tend to get together in a line and they go on their sides and sway, really funny to see. They are an awesome fish and I think everybody should own them.

We have two Jelly Bean parrot fish (blue and pink). They are in a tank with a few african chichlids that seem a little aggressive toward them. we also have a giant gourami, irridescent shark, 2 snails, a cory fish, and a spotted sucker fish. We did have 9 ghost shrimp but we soon found that they are a good treat for the parrots. Overall they seem to be holding their own. They seem to like people and come right up to the glass for attention. We enjoy them very much. Good luck everyone with your fish!

Like the convict cichlids, they are very easy to breed and keep. They love brine shrimp and even baby livebearers! If your pair are spawning for the first time they most likely will eat their first couple of spawns. They settle into aquariums very easily and can produce "nuclear families".

I have 1 jack dempsy, 2 black convicts, 2 jewel cichlids, 1 nicarguense, 1 green terror, 1 geophagus altifrons, and 3 african cichlids in a large tank. My jack is about 7" now, he is exceptionally colorful and is actually one of the least aggressive fish in my tank. He hates when other fish are being aggressive towards each other near him and he will usually chase the aggressor away! He is definitely the boss of the tank.
