I have five blood parrots in a 50 gallon tank. They are extremely agressive. Not knowing they were cichlids, when I first bought them they were eating all my community fish, then I separated them all. I did buy another large Ciclid (Can't remember which one though) and he pecked at them until one of them almost died. So that fish went back to the fish store. The only other fish I could put in the tank is the Plecostamus algae eater. They are all Orange and range from 6 - 8 inches in size. The larger ones try to bite me when I get into their tank. they actually attack my hands so I use the net to keep them away. They are beautiful to watch. I have two filters, a Penguin filter on the back and an underground using the Rena Filter which is really easy vs. my Eheim I had previously. They have always been healthy, no diseases, no deaths in over Five years. I do a 25% water change and filter changes every month. I feed them Hikari Cichlid Gold pellets which keeps their color vibrant. Other than that they are wonderful fish to watch and care for.

i have had my red devil in with a 4.5 inch black rhom, 4 5 inch spilos and a 7 inch dovii. my red devil was about 8 inches. the fish lived in a 270 gallon tank for years. one day i came back from vacation and the only fish i had left were the red devil and rhom. 2 weeks later the devil and rhom got into a heavy fight and the devil killed the rhom before i could separate the 2. these are very aggressive fish and should be kept in a HUGE tank.

I have 3 firemouths that were in a 29 gallon, but now they're in a ten gallon, and they're going to be in a 55 for the rest of their life in a few days. They are a little more aggressive than people say they are against small fish, but they get along great with my dwarf cichlids. Im separating the silver dollar from them because of their aggressive tendencies, but i must say, they are funny when they coast back and forth with their gill plates and team up with other fish to "rule the world"

I have a ten gallon tank with five jack dempseys. There are two that are big and black and three that are light brown. When I first got my dempseys, I asked the pet store what can go in the tank with them. She told me oscars, so I bought two. I put them both in the tank. My dempseys started swiming around them and I went back to the couch to watch t.v. After awhile I went over to feed them and one was dead. In the morning the other was dead. I told my boyfiend that we really got some mean fish as they did not give the other fish time to swim around the tank. We have had our dempseys for three months and I love them so much. I will be getting a 30 gallon tank so they can have more room to swim around in. My boyfriend will lay in front of the tank and watch them for hours. Right now I don't which ones are male or female, but soon I will know.

I purchased 3 parrot fish that were entirely black. As they have grown, one is almost white, the other orange, and the third black and orange. They continue to change colour.

I have had Oscar's on and off for 10 years. A friend of mine normally takes the adults once they have outgrown a 50gallon tank. She owns a 150gallon tank and they love it. They are very intelligent fish, have a hearty appetite, and always seem to keep busy. Most people want fish to be lively colored and Oscar's are not the first on their list. I however think they are brilliantly marked, the albino's, the orange specks, all of them offer a variety of color. The best thing is the personality though. They always seem to "spring" clean, and when they are really hungy they pick up a mouthfull of gravel and throw it at the tank. Gee how appropriate. But I wouldn't trade them for the world. Make sure you read up on them before purchasing one, two, or a bunch. They do grow rapidly and quite big. So be prepared.

I have a 4-5 inches long one and it is a beautiful orange, and has kind of an orangish white fade to the bottom. I still cant tell what sex it is. it is super agressive towards my other fish and it is in a seperate tank! He loves frozen krill cubes. i have him/her in a 55 allon tank by himself and he is still getting use to it. They are MAJOR diggers... well mine is. I dont really have any advice except feed them three times a day.

I bought 5 Kribs about 4 months ago and these little beauties are crazy spawners. Two of them paired up and bred in my 20 gallon community tank. Even thought they don't tolerate other fish around their babies, they aren't overly aggressive. They had 2 batches before the female killed the male and then ate the babies. But the two batches of babies were almost big enough to not be sucked into her mouth right when she ate them. But overall this is a fish that I would definitely recommend!
