I've had my female tex for about 1 year now. She is about 7 inches long and very social. She shows no aggression whatsoever towards my irridesent sharks, catfish or discus. She is definetly a favorite among my friends who come to see my fish. This is one of my favorite cichlids.

We recently bought 2 oscars, one red and the other one is albino. They are a hoot! The albino will let me pet him but the other shys away. They are always playing and yes tearing up the plants and the pieces that have torn away and are floating on the top of the water they like to push around. Mine are around 10" long and we have a plecosomus (algae eater) that they like to push on and make him move. They even try to nibble on his tail. They don't get too far because he is as big as they are. I love to press my nose against the tank and the albino oscar will come up to me and start to shake his head at me and then he takes off swimming. My husband keeps trying to find ways to keep the tank thermometer straight but they keep on pushing it around until they get it lengthwise with the tank. The one kind of rock that they don't move is the small rocks you get at the beach near the ocean. That is what we started with and has worked very well for all of our fish in the last 10 years. We just take them out and clean them every now and then. The rocks are about 1" to 3" in diameter.

We bought a pair of red devils two years ago to try and breed. They did everything but lay eggs. So we thought we should see if we could sell them and try again. During that time they seem to be acting strange. I knew they were going to breed but my wife said no they are not. We then had a HUGE problem with their water. I got them out and into a 20lt drum. I didn't know what to do with them so my wife said we have to get rid of them or they will die. She called my sister and ask if she would like them. Anyway my sister has them and they have 100's of fry now, only after 1 month. I knew they were ready to breed. DON'T EVER GIVE YOUR FISH AWAY..

I have a parrot fish that is peach in color so we call him/her peaches. Peaches is about 7 inches long and is very thick. It is really the prettiest parrot fish I have ever seen and has pretty lips. It seems to have an attitude and gets upset if someone comes in the room without talking to him/her. Peaches loves to give kisses pressing his/her lips against the glass with someone. When the grand kids come over Peaches has to have a kiss or he/she will swim fast and turn almost flips to get your attention. Also if you leave you have to tell Peaches bye. Peaches loves to watch tv. People think I should change the name to flipper.

My Oscar prefers water temperature to be around 78-80 degrees. Below 78 degrees he becomes very lethargic and tends to stay close to the bottom. Otherwise he swims around the tank, quite happily rooting in the gravel and devouring any morsels I give him.

I just had a very bad experience with these beautiful fish. And they ARE NOT PEACEFUL! This fish nearly tore an entire fin off my Gorgeous Electric Blue Jack Dempsey. I had it in my tank for 10 days and it wreaked havoc!, claiming the bottom of a 20 gallon tank, with only the two of them in it! My poor Jack became sick from the stress and began to get serious fin damage so I returned the Lemon Yellow A seriously aggressive and teritorial fish.

We have a 150 gallon tank with a variety of small fish. we introduced a bloody parrot about one year ago and immediately she became the star of the tank...she is named Nemo and is a pale pink. About six months ago, we felt that she was lonely and introduced another bloody parrot, Dori. It was very entertaining watching them meet one another. It was a little rough at first, as Nemo was very territorial and would not let Dori eat. The newer fish hid during feeding time and actually came close to death. To ensure that Dori ate, I fed them when I noticed Dori out and away from his hiding place. Eventually, the new, timid fish began to eat and is now thriving. Those two fish are now inseperable and absolutely entertaining. We have added three more jelly bean parrots and they all get along fine. They each have their own territory. I never thought I'd see the day where I'd be talking to a tankful of fish, but they do recognize the hand that feeds them and greet me each time I stop by the tank.

We have a mated pair that spawn every month or so. They're kept in a lightly-stocked 30 Gallon cube tank with rocks, aquarium sand & dense shells. The shell area is now exclusively reserved for the "family", other fishes are pushed out quickly. Several of the fry have grown to 1-2 centimeters and take care of the newer, smaller fry. Very family oriented fish. Easy to feed & care for and they seem to have a great personality.

hi im Frank,i have two tiger oscars one albino and one regular. They eat like pigs. They are in my 55 gallon tank. I have a 55, 70, 30, 45, and 10 gallon tank. I have convicts that layed eggs and they hatched in my oscars tanks. Half of the baby convicts are gone from the oscars. my albino tiger oscar is 6 1/2' and my tiger oscar is 6'. They rip out my live plants like crazy so i dont get them anymore. they like rocky caves and rocks. to have a pair of oscars you need at least to have a 55 gallon tank. they have craps that are 2 inches long. that is what i know about oscars, i will tell you more next time

I just got 2 bloody parrots for Christmas and they are so cute and full of personality! One, I think he's a boy, is the brave one. He scouts things out for his woman and she follows his lead. They love to snuggle together and hide.

I love these fish and am hooked!
