i bought my red devil about a month ago and put him in with 4 oscars ranging from 4 inches to about 7 inches. i have read a lot about them and every source says that they are very aggresive. but my red devil, who is aobut 4 inches long, is very peaceful. he doesnt bother anyone nor is he ever bothered with. there's a kind of tank peace agreement i guess. he a is very colorful fish with lots of personality, but i think he lacks the aggresive gene.

I am a police officer in my hometown and i am assigned to the detective bureau. I own a 35 gallon fish aquarium that is positioned next to my desk at work. In my aquarium i have five beautiful jellybean parrot fish. These fish have more personality than some of the other police detectives i work with. All the guys gather around my desk to witness the feeding when i feed my parrots feeder goldfish.

I have two parrot fish named Tater Chase and Totsy-Tot. They are very hungry most of the time and do the "I want food dance" when we stick our fingertips in the tank. They nibble and make the sweetest kissing smoochy sounds!!! We also have six tiger barbs and a pleco in our 10 gallon tank. Everyone is happy with them!

I have a 48 gallon tank with two 4 inch yellow cichlids and two blue dolphins about the same size. I have hiding places for all of them and they all get along great. They get a little excited around feeding time but that's about it. They are best in larger tanks with plenty of hiding places. They don't eat anything off the bottom of the tank so i'm going to add a bottom feeder that will mix well with them. These fish can be highly aggressive but in the right surroundings they do fine.

I bought a 3 inch red devil and put it in with a 6 inch oscar, a 12 inch algae eater that was about 7 years old , a 6 inch soap dish crab all in a 50 gal tank. after about six months red has killed them all. A large bump came up on his head for about three weeks then one nite it went away. the next morning there was eggs all over. now we have fry everywhere, immaculate conception i guess. Jim

i started my first tank about 6 months ago. it is 50 gallons. didnt know anything about fish so i got an oscar, a jack dempsy, and 2 black convicts. best thing i did was get the dempsy. the jack and the oscar were both about half an inch and now they are both about 3 inches+. at first they didnt like each other, but now they are best buds. our convicts have started breeding and my jack and oscar were getting ambushed. so now oscar and jack are a team, and they show the convicts that it is their tank. the jack has gotten such beautiful colorings on it, lots of blue and red on the edges of his fins. im pretty sure its a male. i think it is a must for any fish lover

I had two Tiger Oscars for about six years. They grew to about 11" and 12" length. Like your other readers said they pull out your live plants. If I could give any advise to someone that wants them, spend the money on a good heater and a excellent filter! I went through about 5 heaters because they would not leave them alone. I had a plecosomus that I got at the same time. After about 3 years they eat him for dinner so i had to do lots of water changes. My wife liked to tease them with food out side the tank and they would hit the glass. Until one day she did it with the glass cover open, big mistake. They BOTH jumped out of the tank to the floor. They were fine, I just picked them up and put them back in the tank. But that brings up another pointer that you need to make sure that you have a heavy lid or put something on it, they will hit it. To this day my wife will not mess with my babys.

I have had my Red Devil for almost 4 years now. He is a beautiful bright yellow, and as mean as can be. No fish lasts more than 3 hours with him. Even crayfish can't withstand the rath of "Killa". I am ashamed to say that I have yet to upgrade his tank so he is stuck inside a 20 gallon tank and his water has to be changed every 3 days or it gets very cloudy. He snaps at the glass when I put my finger against it and moves all the rocks to suit his needs. This is by far the best fish I ever owned. I can't wait to provide him with a larger home though.
