I have two parrots and they are wonderful, I just fell in love with them. Nemo and Olive are playful with each other, they play tug-a-war with their mouths and they nug each other all the time. I got some pots to go in their aquarium but I'm not sure how to break and arrange them. I just put them in there on their sides and the parrots go in and look around. I put some rocks in there and the parrots go inside the pots, pick up the rocks and spit them out. they love a hole dug out in the bottom of the aquarium. they will swim really fast and rub their bellies on the smooth surface. they are funny to watch and are always doing something different. as far as their eating they love the freeze dried shrimp and will not wait for any of them to fall, they hardly come to the top and get them. I talk to mine just like I do my dog and when I do they come right in front of my face.

I have 3 of these guys from 1 to 2 inches long. i totally enjoy them more than i do my guppies or goldfish, love feeding them. My labs are in a 20 long right now but am going to add them along with some other cichlids to my 55 gallon. I had two strands of ancharis/elodea in the tank and they totally robbed one of them of their leaves so i moved it to my guppy/goldfish tank . Java fern is the choice plant, they don't touch this in my tank, not even the newly grown leaves that grow off its adult leaves. Now not only are they great to feed, but they are great to watch because of their unique behavior from other cichlids i've seen.

A Salvini will kill everything in a 20 gallon tank because its to small for anything else. Any Medium to Large cichlid in a tank that small will almost always kill or attack any other thing in such a small space.

I have 3 of these. They are very nice fish! One I have named "Groucho" because some black markings on his face make him look like the comedian.

I have two full grown oscars, one red and one tiger. The tiger oscar got a eye fungus and lost 90% of her sight, not a problem tho the red oscar never leaves her side, I think she can see out of pin holes because when food floats by she gets it, my red oscar loves to jump out of the tank he has done it in the middle of the night, thank God I heard him hit the floor. If you really want to see the true spirit of your oscar put several large cray fish in the tank. My red oscar loves them, he stalks them and then when he gets them where he wants them "BAM" he slams them against the glass knocking them out, then sucks them in tail first. They also love golf fish and earch worms that I get from the bait store. My kids love them and my wife thinks they are ugly. Right now they are in a 55 gallon tank but soon to come is a 250G tank. It is going to cost me a small fortune bit its worth it. All and all they are great pets and easy to care for. Best fish Ive ever had!

These Blood Parrots are Blood parrots. Jelly Bean Parrots are not anything like Blood Parrots. They have a more slanted snout and tend to have no color.(Females have orange in the dorsal fin and in the belly.) I have bred this species for 3 years.

My Red Devil came to live with us about 3 or 4 years ago and was about 3 inches long. Today he is about 10 inches. When we got him he was housed with other smaller cichlids. He was the king of the tank but never hurt any other fish. Because of that we named him Delight. Now at 10 inches, there seems to be a invisible divider in the tank. He is fine with other fish and people as long as you stay out of his favorite areas of HIS tank. He loves me (for the most part) he is always excited to see me and greets me at the tank. He is however VERY agressive towards other people and will try to attack right through the glass. He is also very picky about his tank landscaping. He works daily to make sure all the gravel is placed right where he wants it. When I go into clean or straighten up his tank, LOOK OUT! He will and has attacked my hand. Even so, I still love him. He is such a personable fish. And no offense to other Red Devil owners, he is the best looking Red Devil I have ever seen, including all the show case Devils at the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago IL. Happy Fishing!

I have a 10 inch Red Devil who I love and have had for about 6 years know. His name is buttercup. I named him this so people would get close to the tank and say "ooohh Buttercup is so cute" then get a face full of the meanest fish I have ever seen. So far it is working. When he was smaller he finished off a Jack Dempsey. He grew up with a pleco sucker fish who he finally dispossed when it out grew its hiding spot, then it attacked the hiding spot for hiding it so long. My girlfriend put another sucker in the tank about a year and a half ago and I was able to find a big enough spot for it to hide, it is still alive but not the best life. It is almost the same size as the Devil and wedged under a log, under constant surveillance. We love this Fish, Buttercup the Red Devil, and He hates anything with a pulse. I wouldn't change a thing.

Salvinis are my absolute favorite cichlid! They are one of the most colorfull cichlids Ive found. Ive had cichlids for about 10 years, both african and south american. I prefer south american they seem to be less aggresive, dont kill each other off. I have a 55 gal with 15 fish and have had none killed off in the last two years. Mostly salvini, 2 firemouths, 2 Turquois Sevrum, 2 red devils. I dont think the Salvini are as agressive as people say.
I would highly recommend these to any aquarist.
