james - 2011-02-04 Teresa please read my latest comments above. I do have a little knowledge about pacu fish as I am from Georgetown, Guyana South america. The fish will continue to grow bigger once it's alive and you keep feeding it. They can probably grow as big up to about 60lbs. Time to put it in your oven or on your grill.

Eric J. Tucker - 2011-01-03 Hi Tara I have had a Black Pacu for over 25 years and he has been sick numerous times. For me the main reason for his sickness and clouding eyes was poor water quality. I do not have the time to care for his aquarium as I once had now that I have a family on the go. My pacu has very poor eyesight now and practically feed him by hand. He will get clouded eyes a couple times a year and will not eat. I give the aquarium a thorough vacuuming and 30 to 40% water change and within 24 to 48 hours he perks up and his appetite is ravenous. If you can do the water changes on a regular basis that will probably benefit him the most.
dont trip - 2009-07-16 My auntie has 2 pacus, 1 is about 1ft and sum inches and da other is about 5 or 6 inches. The bigger pacu has its on tank because it killed the oscar and the other fishes. The small one is in a tank with a black shark, both tanks are about 75 to a hundred gallons, between those two numbers. The big pacu will not allow any other fish to be in his tank and if you were to put another fish in there it wuld kill it, even if it was its own kind.

Jeff Rapps - 2010-08-31 Is your auntie's gentle giant still in the 75g tank? Poor poor fellow :(
These fish should be sold to the general hobbyist.
The Black Pacu is a member of the Characin family, but is nothing like the average Tetra!
