These tetras are beautiful, and in my experiene much less picky than others. Will apdapt easily to many healthy foods and peacful spececies. Many see them as dull, but with adequate lighting, they sparkle. For best overall appearence, keep with contrasting foliage such as the Java Fern. Overall my favorite fish group in the tank.

WOW! I bought several of those and added them into my tank, then dug through every possible book on tropicals. I returned to the dealer, and to my shock, he had no idea what kind of fish it was. In my experience, they are lovely fish with an overall peaceful disposition unless provoked. Im so happy I finaly discovered what type of fish they were.

I have a 20-gallon aquarium with 7 Neon Tetras, 3 Pristella Tetras, and 2 male Dwarf Gouramis. The Pristella Tetras are lots of fun to watch, and their yellow and black fins are very colorful. All of the fish seem to get along well with each other. The Pristella Tetras have huge appetites, and are always the first ones to get to the food!

Lovely. It was ironic that I did not have any interest in any Tetras before. I thought small fishes were unattractive and dies within weeks. However, I was wrong. They proved hardy and impressed me tremendously with their flashy colors. I have twelve of them, and it is interesting to see their colors flashing again after the lights were turned on after total darkness. They almost appeared colorless. I noticed they do eat a lot. Remember not to overfeed. Just because they are tiny does not mean you have to feed exactly the way you do for bigger fishes! DO NOT add in other bigger sized fishes (Plecos, etc) as Neon Tetras sleeps and rests at the bottom and bigger fishes will simply vacuum them in.

I have misjudged this wonderful fish. As i noticed the shoal of Rasboras were frightened by my shoal of Black Neon Tetras, I misunderstood the fear for agression by the Black Neon Tetras. I was gazing at them and realised that the Rasboras must have been unaccustomed by my Black Neon Tetras (as they are new to the Coummunity) thus frightened, days ago. If one spends time noticing the activities of a Community tank, one can discover that there is beauty in these tetras.

It is always best to include some bottom feeders, to clear the bottom of leftovers, as I noticed they are often at the middle. They were a little aggressive with other Tetras. However, it is always right not to mix them with Angelfish & other bigger sized fishes.

Avoid adding them with other similar sized fishes especially guppies or other brightly colored ones. Have witnessed them nibbling the fin of a poor guppy. They do grow to a size bigger than some community fishes (like Neon Tetras, etc) so its best not to mix them with such community fishes. But a school of them in a tank will prove eye-catching for many hobbyists.

These fish are a joy to keep. I have kept them with smaller fish and did not have any problems. At the same time though they were not the largest fish in the tank.
