I inherited a 70 gallon tall tank from my mother in law and there were two Serpaes in it at the time. After the initial move one was obviously stressed and became ill. Within about a week it was healthy again (Used an ick treatment), and after a month his fins were back and bright(they are the long finned variety). Ive since added 6 more in groups of three, the first batch was bought from a new LFS whos water quality was admittedly poor, the second from a LFS the has a great reputation, the first three died, the last three are thriving. A very beautiful community fish with a lot of personality and not the least bit shy. They will nip fins but are not overly aggressive. I definitly recommend the long fin variety.

My Bruno Aries Tetra has such a personality! He is ina community tank with black neons and neon tetras, and schools well with them, and not agressive towards them at all. When I come up to the tank, he always swims over to whatever side I am on as if to say hi.

I have kept Silver Dollars for about three years now, they are a very nervous and shy fish and do better in numbers of three or more. They are a wonderful fish to keep and have had no problems apart from them eating every plant in my tank! Need to feed them plenty of veg such as lettuce. Have kept them with medium Tetras and angels and all are fine. Best to keep them in a larger fish tanks mine are in a 55 gallon tank.

These fish are great! The are very hardy and adapt well to harsh water quality. This makes them excellent starter fish. I suggest a school of at least 5 as these guys tend to be shy in groups less than that. I have them in with Black Widow Tetra and they get alone just fine. No nipping and they hang together!

I have been keeping these fish for the past couple of years. Bigest problem, they jump out of the tank - so keep it covered. They are vey fast and I have not seen any aggressive behaviour. I always purchase them in pairs - I have one about 12 inches long in a tank with large fish. They tend to be shy. Very interesting to observe. Raphael
