I have 2 flame tetras and they have been the most hardy fish I've owned. They've outlasted just about any other fish in my aquarium and add a nice touch with there bright red coloring.

I recently got 5 neon tetras to start my first ever tank with (along with a female Betta) and they are the happiest little fish ever. They eat well, stay in a school.. (most of the time) and even play noticeable games with eachother, like tag! (i couldn't believe it at first!!) They are an excellent little fish if you have the right equipment for them, mine stay at the bottom of the tank.. though, they don't like going anywhere else.

Great fish. Very eager eaters they are fast and active, and look great in a mini-tank. They love fish flakes and everything else. They hide sometimes, but usually very active. They brighten up when the lights are on. They grow pretty big and have very long fins. Love the color on these guys.

My Silver Dollar is in a tank with a rainbow fish and two blood parrot chilids. He is doing great. HE tripled in size in about three months! I didn't know they grew so fast!

(1)I have bright pink gravel and my neon tetras don't seem to mind it at all. They don't hide in the shady areas. I think if they are given an aquarium with half bright and half dark, they may choose the dark side, but I have a feeling they do get used to a tank with bright gravel very quickly. (2) When introducing larger fish (even a little bit larger) the neons tend to be intimidated. I think it is best to make sure the neon school is always more numerous than the other schools since the neons are peaceful and easily intimidated.

I have a silver dollar fish that is 16 years old! he has jumped out of the tank a few times. in fact, 1 time he jumped out and i didn't notice it. I had fallen asleep and was awoken by this slapping sound. it was the sound of the silver dollar fish on the bare floor behind the tank. I picked him up and he has a dust/cat-hair sweater on his body. so, i picked the hair off and plopped him back in the tank. that was about 6 years ago. I am thinking he might be dying now though, he is laying flat on the bottom of the tank, although, he seems more lively today. I did a water change, and i think the tank might have been too warm (83 degrees)

I just recently purchased 5 silver dollars for my aquarium. These fish seemed a little skiddish at first but have settled in nicely with my 4 angelfish, 4 mollies, 4 gouramies and 2 catfish. They are still a little jumpy when someone gets too close to the tank, but they are easy to care for and their constant activity makes for a nice addition to my tank. I can sit forever and watch them. Even though all 5 of mine appear to be males there is no aggession among them.
