Just got a few phantoms for my tank, and must say they are full of surprises. They all have undergone a colour change; the bodies being almost black whilst the colour has gone from their fins. All still healthy and peaceful, though.

Out of the few Characin species I have kept, this is one of the most rewarding. They school up tightly in my 20g tall aquarium and frequently court each other. They seemed to school even more tightly once I added a piece of driftwood so I think they prefer a slightly "blackwater" environment. I have yet to get them to spawn successfully, but right now they share the tank with three Bolivian Rams so this is expected.

A slightly dim light shows off their color the best which is unfortunate because it limits the kinds of live plants the animal can be kept with. 1 watt per gallon or even a little less really makes them look brilliant.

I love my serpae tetras(Moe, Larry, and Curly)! They live up to their names and are the stoodges of the tank. They are feisty, however, and have ripped Jack Daniel's(a guppy) fins quite a bit. Larry is by far the leader, and I have had to put him in 'prison' a few times(isolating him)to stop him from biting the other fish. It's worth it, though, They really are fun guys.

I have 4 rummy noses in a 20h. They are sensitive and will swim mostly at the bottom (and some times middle) level of the tank. They are sensitive to temp. changes but are hard to kill. I have had temps go down quickly over the weekend and they were half dead when i got back but after temps were in there comfort zone they were fine. They live whith 3 harliquin rasboras, 1 flame dwarf gourami (male) and 2 neon dwarf gouramis (female), 3 corys, 1 bristlenose pleco, 2 mystery snails, and 2 honey gouramis.

This was my Scout Fish for my 20 gallon aquarium.

My friend Meagan would come by and laugh because it was such a tiny fish in such a humungous aquarium.

I named her Luna.

I can't say she's much of a tail nipper. At first, she curiously nipped at Angelito, my angelfish's, tail, and at Rey's a little bit, too. (Rey is a Powder Blue Dwarf Gourami who want a girlfriend...). She doesn't do that anymore. Instead she tries to break up fights between my demonous Kissing Gourami, Mina, and my poor helpless baby angelfish, Angelito.

Luna is a great fish. I highly suggest getting a Blackskirt Tetra for your tank of any size. They may be known to nip tails, and steal other fishes food (Luna sure does ^.^), but they're great and by no means heinous.

I love these guys! I have a few, one of which is almost 2 years old. He's the oldest in my tank! They're the perfect size; not too big, not too small. Their color is subtle yet stunning. :D

Hi I bought one of these guys and after a week ---my three parrot fish, my angel fish, my pleco and my panda cory catfish all had chewed fins and tails! He would corner my parrot fish and then just keep nipping at her tail. The only one he didn't seem to nibble on was my green severum. I have put him in his own tank. He seems very cranky and I am not sure that I like him too much.I guess time will tell--right now I say he is a MEAN fish! Ronda
