Hi, the 150 gallon is still on hold for me and now I only have 2 darters left no feeders and 4 mosquito fish. I bought a TRUE freshwater snowflake moray eel, which explains where the fish went, and I was wondering if it could go in the same tank as the pacu. Also, I have dicided not to include the smaller fish and I have 2 bluegill to take there place, can I do this without too many problems?P.S., yes it is a TRUE freshwater moray eel.

The eel and the Pacu should get along nicely, especially in 150 gallon tank.

The only freshwater morray needs brackish when older.

I bought 4 glow lights for my 7 gallon tank yesterday and they are so happy. I noticed two of them doing a mating dance for a little bit but there were no signes of eggs. it was wierd. I love feeding them because they dart through the water to get the food and it is so cute. I have one other guppy in the tank and she seems ok with them. she tried to nip them at first but has really calmed down now and has accepted them. Glo light tetra's are by far the best fish i ever got

We get neons by the dozens and we have to do it from time to time because they do not last as long as they should. Now I realize if we got the $4/each ones it would be more responsible, but the 50 cent/each ones allow quantities of 75 at a time. They do look so wonderful in large schools though. They share their 90 gallon heavily planted and filtered auto-c02 controlled tank with 9 Clown Loaches, couple pearl gouramis, dozen rummynose, handful of glasscats, handful of bleedingheart tetras, couple catfish and a handful of cories. Wish I could afford 75 of the $4/each ones! They are stunning.

I'm doing a fish project for school and I bought 3 white tetras. I feed them "tropical fish flakes" and have lots of plants in the tank. They seem to love it!

Hey, sounds like your project is going to be fun. What is it? Sounds like you have set up a nice tank and are enjoying it. Good for you.

I have three of these that I bought because they were labled as black neons in the store and I wanted to give my existing black neons some school mates. When I got them, I thought they just had awful colours because they were juveniles. Then they grew into these beautiful fish that I had real trouble identifying until I found this site. A beautiful, peaceful fish with a voracious appetite for frozen brine shrimp. I just wish I had one good school of one certain type of tetra, instead two groups of three lonely tetras. How incompetent to completely mislabel a fish in a shop! How incompetent of me to buy them!

Lovely. It was ironic that I did not have any interest in any Tetras before. I thought small fishes were unattractive and dies within weeks. However, I was wrong. They proved hardy and impressed me tremendously with their flashy colors. I have twelve of them, and it is interesting to see their colors flashing again after the lights were turned on after total darkness. They almost appeared colorless. I noticed they do eat a lot. Remember not to overfeed. Just because they are tiny does not mean you have to feed exactly the way you do for bigger fishes! DO NOT add in other bigger sized fishes (Plecos, etc) as Neon Tetras sleeps and rests at the bottom and bigger fishes will simply vacuum them in.

Are Rams compatible with Heckel Discus, Altum (wild) Angelfish, and Black Ghost Knifefish? How about with Silver Dollars?

The Knifefish needs a minimum of a 100 gallon tank on his own. They are beautiful but they get huge and he will most likely eat the others.

The angel fish isn't recommended but you may try with a knife fish all depends on you tank size to oh and for the discus. Alot of people may tell you to keep them in a single species tank and they need different water phlevels in their tank.

Contrary to what most forums say about Leporinus fasciatus, I have had much success with this fish but at a higher temperature (81 degrees). At lower temperatures Ive noticed they are sluggish and seem like they lack energy. They are not an "individual" fish, so I recommend buying at least 2 at a time. If introduced into the aquarium with other fish, I have not had any aggressive behaviour at all excluding the occasional "nipping" if another gets too close. They are an awesome sight and actually like to swim the length of the tank with my Tiger Barbs as if in a race (and are amazingly fast). They like to wander into tight spaces so I recommend getting something with some hideaways (hollow stump, porous rock etc). In the aquarium I also have Convicts, Blue Dwarf Gourami, Tiger Barbs and my childs adopted Goldfish. Believe it or not, they all get along great despite the aggressive ratings that each are given.

I've had my Hydrolycus Armatus for close to a year now and deal with all 4 payara species on a daily baisis. The 'sudden death' of payara in aquaria ONLY applies to the Scomb. species. Most of the information posted above is correct though. All 4 of the payara species can be trained onto dead/frozen foods (such as fresh market fish fillets or frozen silversides), but they are quite stubborn to train, so the use of teacher fish may be a good idea to speed up the process. My Hydrolycus Armatus was 4' at purchase, and is now about a foot. They do require very large tanks with lots of curret and prestine water quality, anything less and they will perrish. They are quite rare (Scombs and Tats are often mislabeld as Armatus so do your research first) as mentioned above, so if you do find one, expect to pay minimum $100.
