thanks for the info from all who have posted. I have recently bought my chocolate catfish and thought that it was poorly because of its bizarre patterns. There have been a number of times I thought it was dead! I worried that it didn`t seem to eat too well but you have allied my fears. I hope mine will last as long as some of the stories ive read

It is 26 January 2005. I purchased two lace catfish in April 2004. They were about 1.5 inches from tip of head to tip of tail when I purchased them. they are now about 4.0 inches now! They are fed various food; wafers, flake, chiclids pellets, live earthworms, chicken, etc. They seem to be nocturnal; I do not see them often during the day. They prefer to stay under the driftwood or in the lace rock caves. They are very strong and fast swimmers. I had them in a 46 gallon tank with Cichlids and botia until last night. I moved them to a 40 gallon tank with Angle fish, neon tetras and cory cats. My cichlids had babies and I am afraid that they might be eaten.

I have 2 banjos. I actullay picked up 1 dead one with my fingers to throw him out, But he "Felt" alive. I let him drop back into the tank and he was still dead. The next morning he had moved, and the next again.
They are ugly (Even a mother would have second thoughts). Boring (I have never seen either of them move under there own steam). Even when you can find where they are you usually cant see them,(Buried in sand or under bog wood. So why do I openly admit to them being my favorites. I must be as dense as the rest of you guys....... ! ! !

I bought my Raphael just over five years ago. He was about 3" then and is now nearly 7" long. I have him in a thirty gallon tank with a pictus cat and 6 large cichlids. Everyone gets along famously!

My plecostomas is very agressive. He shares a 10 gallon tank with some mollies. The tank is overcrowded, so that may explain his aggressive behavior.

I have a redtail catfish in a tank with a snakehead. They are both pretty good predators. I started out with about 25 south american cichlids (oscars, dempseys, convicts, arrowana) of varied species in a 120 gallon tank fish tank along with the redtail and snakehead. Now there is two! May the best man win! They have co-habitated for some time now and appear to be great tankmates.

Very attractive looking fish, although I lost one to ICK, The other survived when I treated him in a smaller 10 gallon tank with ICK Clear. I bought another to keep him company, but lately they have been chasing each other around and obviously nipping at each others fins. I guess they are somewhat territorial with their own species. They get along great with my other fish. I have a Bala Shark, Pictus catfish, black fin shark, rainbow shark, Common Pleco, and a Siameese Tiger Fish. The Black Fin is a little aggresive though. My two silver tips are always available to watch, as they never hide.
