These fish, at adult stage, require at least a 180 gallon (6 ft x 2ft x 2ft) aquarium, with brackish water. I have 2 currently in an 85g (5ft x 1.5ft x 1.5ft), they are about 8 inches long. A great fish but require a very large tank!

I was recently given 2 columbian sharks. They seem like little clowns. I sit and watch them for the longest time. They swim kinda crazy though, in circles and doing flips side ways. I will be putting them in a 150 gal. tank in a couple of weeks.

We purchased two catfish from Wal-Mart on July 29, 2005. They had them labeled as cory cats. I found out on September 9, 2005 that they were lace cats. When we first got them, they were the same size as a small cory (about 1 inch long). One is almost 5 inches long now and the other one is a little over 5 inches long. They have grown a lot in one month. We feed them the same thing our other fish get fed; high quality flakes and newborn guppies. They are in a 29 gallon tank with two pacus, two bala sharks, one tiger barb, two tetras with a single spot on the tail, two small danios, two large danios, one red tail shark, and one sailfin pleco. Every fish we have bought has tripled in size within one month of their purchase. We have had our balas for nine months now and they are over ten inches long. People have told me they are a few of the biggest they have seen. But the prettiest fish we have are the two lace cats and they are fun to watch.

The fish with barbels-whiskers you're talking about in the comments isn't common pleco, but Ancistrus....anyway, pleco is my favourite fish, I had one when I was a kid, it grew up to 25cm....I still keep it frozen in my fridge...creepy, eh?
5 months ago I bought a new pleco, and he's alone in his tank, I don't want to waste time and money on other fish...he's my beloved one...I'm still sorry for my first pleco died(don't know why, it was 2 years old and everything was OK with it) so now i hope i'll manage to raise this new pleco properly, i hope it grows even larger and healthier than the first one.

My partner was given 2 large plecos (about 10") about a week ago. I think they are amazing and could spend hours just watching them. They seem to get on well most of the time and are never far from each other although the smaller of the two can sometimes be a bit of a bully/play rough. They live with 6 neons and and dont bother them at all. All in all these are great fish. They only problems is i cant tell how old they are.

I just wanted to say that my pangasius are awesome! And full of personality! Although i only have two, they are quite a handful! their tank mates are 2 opaline gourami and a dragonfish. and strangely enough, they seem quite taken with the dragonfish, always playing near it. this is my first tank, and i'm learning a lot about the fish every day. but i am definitely happy with them!

These are the best fish for your tank. Mine are almost 2 years old and 5-6 inches long. Their colors are blue silver when happy and gray black when not. I keep their tank (55)at 80 and dont do much but feed them every night at 11 pm. Im getting interrested in trying to breed but have heard, this can be difficult. I hear they can get up to 39 inches but I doubt I will ever see that, but Im trying. I will write back when they hit 8 inches.

Hi I got my 2 Cat fish separately, now living with a snake head a bit smaller than them. unfortunately they fight with each other. Both cat fish are now around 1 foot and the snake head is palm size, but still attacking the cat fish. can't figure out how to separate this fight. I got 4 separate tanks but all other 3 are smaller. The 4 feet tank is rearing tiger barbs and smaller fishes.

I have an 11 inch plecostomus, and my brother has 2 silver tipped sharks. He got one yesterday, and it is a lot smaller than his other one, but it follows the bigger one around like it's his leader. We just changed from a 10 gallon tank to a 20 gallon tank. They were very crowded in the smaller fish tank, and my pleco had barely any room to swim around. The betta and and my frog were happy about their new home, too. My little sister moved her goldfish and her 2 inch plecostomus from her 5 gallon tank to the 10 gallon tank. We just hope we won't have to be moving them into a bigger tank any time soon.
