i don't understand what so hard about raising irredescent shark catfish. i bought 3 of them they schooled well. they eat high quality goldfish flakes. including eating from my hand in the water and have been known to rub up against my hand in the water. not for tasting me, but for texture, lol.yes they bump the tank alot when younger and make mad dashes all over splashing water. they live in a freshwater tank ,not brackish.i assume they can. they love having a current and swim the middle of the tank. they have a lil white dot on there forheads ,i assume thats a light sensitive third eye like crayfish.. ive never been stung cleaning my tank, or bit by the way i have to mention i have a 40 gallon tank and each one happens to be around 9 to 10 inches long they seem pretty happy.

i have 2 albino corys and they are very active. when i first got them i thought they would be only active at night, but they are always out and about being peaceful towards all other fish. i find it really funny when they skim across the surface of the water causing small waves. they are always swimming into things and bouncing off, they are really fun to keep. jerry

Hi! i wanted to write about my i.d. sharks. I have 2 of and they are both about 5 inches long. they are fun 2 watch and have a pack with the 6 cory catfish. they avoid the 4 african dwarfs in the tank, which i am happy about because they are in the mating process.

These fish almost require saltwater, infact, a fish store I went to in the past had two in a saltwater setup and they were really healthy and about ten to twelve inches. The owner told me that they definitely need saltwater and that is why they die really easy in freshwater. Every one I've ever had just die mysteriously. So in other words, I would not recommend these fish as community fish as to some stores market them as. If you do get them, they will most likely die! Don't do that. Thank you!

Hi there. ive own my rtcf for 5 years now, his name is Benny and is one of the family. he's 15" long and i feed him a variety of fish (rainbow trout, cod), fruit and vegetables (apple, banana, mushrooms, tomatoes), and also beef and chicken. he loves to have his belly stroked and feeds from my hand. rtcf are hard work to look after. one night we notice Benny wasnt looking to good (shedding his skin) so 9:30 pm was a trip to the pet shop and back home to do a half tank water change (that was one long night). but being the tough fish he is, he pulled through and is happy and health again. Last year we decided to move his tank into the conservatory, to stop any accidents with my son and his bike knocking the tank over. the move went fine, but we've noticed at lot more algae in the tank. Benny doesn't seem to mind and i think its a bit more like home for him (have you seen the colour of the water in the Amazon?.)Although I've owned him for 5 years i am still no expert, but hes happy and health and i'd like to think i am doing a good job. Kerry.

I got my Pangasius Suchi in August,he was an inch or smaller. We got him because I was told at the pet store that they were semi-aggresive Catfish, and I needed something to clean up after my six year old Red Devil named Brutus. To my surprise he survived what we call The Wrath of Brutus, and has grown to almost nine inches! We named him Sharky, not knowing that they were aka. the Iridescent Shark Catfish.I learned today that they can grow up to three feet so my thirty gallon tank obviously won,t be good enough.I think it,s time to go big, maybe 150 gallons, and get two or three more because Sharky has beautiful green and blue shades that rival some saltwater fish.It might also give him a break from Brutus, who has never let anything live in HIS house for more than a week.

Hi everyone, these huge fish are very big carnivores. They happen to get very big lumps under there belly after they have eating alot of small fish or 1 big fish. I know they get lumps cuz they show pics of them with lumps and my Tiger shovelnose get lumps to. There was a 7 inch Red tail at Pet Paridise. it was there for about 2 and a half weeks then it was gone. i think they gave it to a pet store that has a bigger tank for it. when they got rid of it they put 2 Florida Gars in it and some cichlids in the tank.

i got two albino sharks and one normal grey/black one. they turned pretty agressive over the years and no matter what cleaner fish i put they always kill it. two corydoras about 2" gone in the first week. i also got them a lobster to pick up the food remains but after a month or so i only found its shell. im absolutely sure this anti-organism shark mafia has somthing to do with the fact that i give them guppys as a main part of their diet. the two albinos are 1 foot long while the blue/grey is something like 7".

I got a Lace Cat about a year ago. I have an unusual assortment of fish, but they work wonderfully together! I have a 50 gallon with 4 HUGE goldfish, 1 butterfly pleco, 3 cory cats, 2 apple snails, and my beautiful Lace Cat. The lace cat has grown like a champ! I cant believe how much it has changed and the size it is now! It is wonderful to watch, I am just fascinated by him. He does hide during the day, but he'll come out if I feed them. I just think he's a wonderful addition to the tank!
