I have four 5 inch long Tinfoil Barbs together with Bala sharks and silver Dollars. They are exstreamly greedy fish, giving the others a good work-out when trying to feed. They seem to be getting larger by the day, so I suggest you have a large tank.

I have a 20-gallon aquarium with 7 Neon Tetras, 3 Pristella Tetras, and 2 male Dwarf Gouramis. The Pristella Tetras are lots of fun to watch, and their yellow and black fins are very colorful. All of the fish seem to get along well with each other. The Pristella Tetras have huge appetites, and are always the first ones to get to the food!

The Tinfoil Barb is a male, color and agressiveness tell me this, love the beast he will get in my hand if I put it in the tank. The other is full, 4 young albino Tinfoil barbs, 4 young Bala Sharks,, 3 albino cory cats and 2 Plocostomi (snicker)
I will be purchasing a 1000 gal tank before to long if the Barbs get as big as the one in the other tank.

Presently I have a 3 cm Banjo Catfish. I put it together with my 3 Marigold Wagtail Platies, in their breeding tank. I do not think this tiny Banjo will eat up the fries. This Banjo looks cool, but dead! it does not move around much, it looks like a little piece of wood, and its head and body does not have the same color! It seems to have been crossed by two different fishes! That is why this fish is incredibly unique for any Community Tank. Buy them tiny, so they can get accustomed with the other tankmates at a young age, as adult Banjo catfishes can be carnivorous.

I have misjudged this wonderful fish. As i noticed the shoal of Rasboras were frightened by my shoal of Black Neon Tetras, I misunderstood the fear for agression by the Black Neon Tetras. I was gazing at them and realised that the Rasboras must have been unaccustomed by my Black Neon Tetras (as they are new to the Coummunity) thus frightened, days ago. If one spends time noticing the activities of a Community tank, one can discover that there is beauty in these tetras.

It is always best to include some bottom feeders, to clear the bottom of leftovers, as I noticed they are often at the middle. They were a little aggressive with other Tetras. However, it is always right not to mix them with Angelfish & other bigger sized fishes.

Avoid adding them with other similar sized fishes especially guppies or other brightly colored ones. Have witnessed them nibbling the fin of a poor guppy. They do grow to a size bigger than some community fishes (like Neon Tetras, etc) so its best not to mix them with such community fishes. But a school of them in a tank will prove eye-catching for many hobbyists.
